I am asking my friends on Facebook to recommend me any company that I could call so I could cancel my two timeshares.

First of all, "cancel" is a misnomer. You cannot "cancel" a timeshare. It is deeded property that you own. If you want to end your ownership, you have to find a willing taker whether you give your unit to that party or sell it. So now the question is How do I find a party to take over ownership?

For one thing, the two companies that you mentioned who are wanting to squeeze $3500 out of you are going to do one of three things. They will either negotiate with the resort(s) in question (or threaten) to take your unit back, get you to sign a Power of Attorney (POA) so they can be authorized to sell your unit on E-Bay or elsewhere for $1, or do what's commonly referred to in the timeshare industry as a Viking Ship. Either way, these are things you can do yourself for a lot less than $3500.

You can try to negotiate with the resort to take your unit back. The resort might ask you to pay the next maintenance fee and possibly closing costs. That would still work out to a lot less than $3500. Or you can try listing your unit for sale here on RedWeek in the Bargain Basement and maybe even offer to pay the closing costs and next maintenance fee. Again, a lot less than $3500. Timeshare Users Group (aka "TUG"; tugbbs.com) also has a Bargain Deals section where you can advertise for free that you want to give your unit(s) away.

I also hear that Facebook has a Bluegreen group. If you are a FB member, you can try mentioning in there what Bluegreen points you have that you want to give away.
