The resort is not right on the beach - but across the street from one. In 10 minutes you can get to some of the best beaches on the island including Napili and Kaanapali. The resort is quiet, and familial very unlike the major brands like Hilton and Marriott. There is no restaurant on site, and it feels more like an really nice condo apartment building than a vacation destination resort. Frankly I prefer this - but some might be more impressed with bigger flashier etc. Across the street there is a nice on the beach restaurant at Sands of Kahana which is nice, casual and inexpensive. The hotel unit is not large so if you spend a lot of time in your unit you might not be very happy - but if you do what you should in Maui which is get out of your unit - you will have a great time. There are great restaurants, great beaches - and you can always spend your day at fabulously expensive resort without spending $500/night to stay there.

This is a nice, quiet place. Not good for partying--no restaurant or bar on site, but several within walking distance. Great staff and very comfortable rooms. You'll want to stay in a one-bedroom or two-bedroom, not a "hotel room"/studio, which is tiny. The two bedroom has all the amenities--full sized fridge and well equipped kitchen. Broadband internet included in rooms. We've stayed here twice, in 2009 and 2010. It's a real bargain for what you get. We'll go back!

We are staying in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom lockoff unit. The unit is clean, the kitchen is well equipped, the living room furniture is comfortable, the televisions are modern. There is a washer/dryer in the unit. The bed is "OK". My wife thought it a bit lumpy, I slept just fine. No ocean view, but the grounds are well cared for and sitting on the lanai overlooking the grounds is very pleasant. Jetted bathtub/showers in both bathrooms.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
They have decent air conditinoing. Not all places in Hawaii have A/C. If that is important to you, check before you commit.
Not all parking spaces are equal. The ones closest to the bulding are about one foot wider (yes, I measured). If you are driving a mini van/SUV, try to get one of those. Parking is free. Not all timeshares in Hawaii have free parking, and sometimes it can be very expensive. Check before you rent.
Free broadband internet in the units.
We would stay again.

Have stayed here twice in the past 10 years. One in a "hotel unit" and once in a studio. Staff is friendly. Property is well maintained. Not on the beach but close to good beaches. Difficult to find parking in Kaanapali if you drive your car to Kaanapali beach. There is VERY LIMITED public parking in Kaanapali. Beach at Kahana (across the street from the resort) is not that great but usually not crowded. Also, parking at the resort can be real tight.
Resort is close to all the sights in and near Lahaina and also close to Kapalua. Of course, you need a car when in Maui.
BEWARE of the "hotel units". These are really "lock-off" bedrooms from the one bedroom units. The "hotel units" are SMALL. And I mean SMALL. Not much bigger than a cruise ship stateroom. Tiny bathroom. And the noise supression (if any) is not too good from the rest of the unit (the non-"lockoff" part). If you rent a hotel room in Maui at a regular hotel you will get a MUCH bigger room! Don't be fooled. I think this "lockoff" stuff is crap and RCI & II should ban it. I don't get to trade just part of my time share units! Maybe if enough people refuse to support it the problem will go away.
Bottom line: I would NOT stay in a "hotel unit" again!

We just got back and they have redone all the Hotel units with nice wood floors. In the hotel unit you get alot of amenites, its like having a mini kitchen with dishes and a toaster, microwave, small refrigerator and Coffee maker. you also get a big bathroom with a steam shower and jetted tub. It is really nice to have the extras over your typical hotel unit. The Resort has a Mai Tai party on Mon. that is not to be missed. They also have lei making classes and hula classes. Its nice to be at a full service resort. I also noticed the towels and housekeeping services are better than most condo's. We loved our stay at Kahana Falls and we will go back soon I hope.
