This was a suprise! We had a very large and comfortable unit that was nestled in the trees. The golfing and pools were great as was the surrounding activites. The waterfront area had lots to do including jet ski, water ski and our personal favorite--- tubing! The master bedroom was huge with a nice whirlpool bath. The master was on the lower level which we found to be great and quite. Kitchen family/dining area was open and large enough for a family of 6 with a fieplace and 2 decks.

We are not golfers but have 4 kids and they had a great time- mini golf, pools, lake, fireworks and good resturaunts- What else do you need?

The units were clean and quiet. Very spacious and well stocked.

The resort is beautiful, but definitely more geared for retired golfers. Our visit was the last week of October when the leaves are turning colors and the entire area is just gorgeous but the resort itself does not have a lot to offer families with kids - the outdoor pool and lazy river are closed, the indoor pool as well as the mini golf course require adult supervision for anyone under 16 (our kids are 13 & 16). There is no playground and none of these amenities are within walking distance of the units.

We did enjoy the little wine tour that they offer.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay but we probably would not return with kids.

One of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had. The location is superb, the views are outstanding. From mountain trail hiking to fishing - it's tops.

Very nice townhomes that were amid lovely scenery. We were on the golf course and had a mountain overlooking us on the left. We had a total of 7 people for a couple of days, and it was a LITTLE tight, but enough room that we didn't walk all over one another. If you want peace and quiet, this is definately the place for you! On the down side, there were cob webs in the corners (housekeeping was not quite up to par) and you have to drive to get anywhere - even to use the on-site facilities. Be forewarned - even to go to the closest Winn Dixie for groceries was 30 miles away, but took one hour to get there. Chimney Rock was almost as long, and Asheville was almost 1 1/2 hours. If you plan on traveling, give yourself PLENTY of time to get there, as the twisty-turvy roads are narrow and potentially dangerous. My advice: stop before you get off the Interstate to get your shopping done, then make no other plans but to chill out the rest of the week! And take the Boat Tour onsite at Fairfied - and take it as soon as you get there, You will appreciate the scenery a little more!

We were in a Foxden townhouse in June, 2004. The accommodations were excellent, although people who have trouble with stairs should be aware that the master bedroom is down a long flight of stairs. The townhouses are remarkably private, given that they are close to one another. The privacy comes from the forest-like atmosphere that the townhomes are set in. The MBR balcony (one of three) opens onto a dense, small forest that gives total privacy.

The Foxrun/Foxden townhomes are near Lake Lure, but are not within walking distance. Neither are the indoor/outdoor pools. There is a private beach (very nice) with spectacular views of the mountains, but you must drive to it. There are two golfcourses onsite.

Driving everywhere is the critical drawback of this place. Going to nearby Chimney Rock is a half-hour drive. Going to Asheville is a one- hour drive. Black Mountain is one hour away. If you are non-golfers, like us, this means that we were always driving somewhere....or feeling trapped. That is the reason for the four star review, although the accommodations deserve five.

Foxrun simply put is very, very peaceful. The setting is superb with balconies overlooking the golf course, lake, and mountains. The units themselves are quite spacious with plenty or room for an entire family. The golfing on two very nice courses is very reasonable especially replays. Overall it is a wonderful place to experience.

Foxrun is a beautiful resort in a beautiful mountainous location with a gorgeous lake. Lake Lure is noted as one of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the world by National Geographic. The units are in a gorgeous wooded area or facing the golf course. The units are split level townhomes with the master bedrooms downstairs offering complete privacy including a balcony. There's also a balcony off the living room and dining room. The units are very spacious.
