World Wide at Summer Oaks

nice place, but very basic. we stayed in unit #16. it was a 1 bed/1 bath. newer liv. furnature. newer carpeting. had good size ref.,microwave,dish washer, washer and dryer. 2 tv's w/ cable, liv tv had a vcr/dvd combo.

unit also had books to read, games in the closet for the kids, wood burning fireplace, and outside cooking grill.

the bar/ restaurant on site was great. good food, nice view, and nice employees.

the nearest convent store was about 3-4 miles away, so stock out before you go.

the resort is about 35-40 min away from the wisc. dells.

the biggest complaint i had was the queen bed was 10 years old and horible. i had to sleep on the couch.

World Wide at Summer Oaks consists of 6 timeshare units, 4 1-bedroom (units 13 thru 16) and 2 2-bedroom (units 26 & 27), within the Summer Oaks Resort. Summer Oaks Resort is located on the northwestern bank of Lake Wisconsin, created by damming the Wisconsin River at Prairie du Sac.

There is a county park with a boat ramp located right next to the resort, and docks located on the lakeshore at the resort. The dock spaces are individually owned, and WWVC owns space for two boats on the lakeshore below the resort.

We had unit 16, one of the 1-bedroom, 1-bath units, which was good-sized at between 800 and 900 square feet. The unit had a full kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, a washer and dryer in their own small utility room, a fireplace, and 2 TV's with cable. There was also a charcoal grill provided for our use on our patio. The sleeping arrangements were a queen bed in the bedroom with a sofabed in the living room, and access to the bath was through a short hallway off the living room. There was a large walk-in closet in the bedroom and another closet in the dining area. Heating is electric baseboard heaters, and the air conditioning is a large wall mounted unit in the living room. The unit was clean and comfortable, but not luxurious.

There were no scheduled activities, and you can only reach a live person when you call their office between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturdays. At any other time you must leave a message on the answering machine and hope that they check it often. Check-in is between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturdays at the Hillcrest Restaurant, located next to the resort.

The resort is located on Wisconsin Route 78, about midway between Sauk City/Prairie du Sac (pop. 3000 & 1000), a sort of twin town arrangement, and Merrimac (pop. 400). There are grocery stores and restaurants in Sauk City/Prairie du Sac, about 5 miles from the resort, and others in Baraboo, a larger town 10 miles from the resort. There is also a restaurant, the Hillside, located next to the resort.
