Lots of activies, friendly staff & beautiful rooms. Nice play set for the kids, movie rentals, and a large pool, great for the whole family. We plan to go back this summer 2008.

We stayed at Carriage Hills for a week at the end of June. Wonderful resort with lots to do, despite its rural location. Apartment was very spacious by European standards, well equipped and very clean. There was also some good activities for the children.
If you have under 8 year olds with you wed recommend a visit to Santas Village at Bracebridge, its about an hour away. Our 2 and 4 year olds loved it.

We just spent the weekend at the Carriage Hills Resort. We live in northern Ontario and our two children live in Toronto. The resort was a perfect place to meet and spend the day enjoying ourselves and using the games room at the resort. This past weekend they had to close the pool and spas for their regular cleaning but we were told we could use the facilities a the Carriage Ridge Resort down the road. We went to the other resort on Sunday to see what it was like. Both resorts are 5 star resorts. They are some of the best we have been in. Looking forward to returning several times. The golf courses looked very inviting but we were not able to golf due to our circumstances. Staff at both resorts were friendly and very helpful. The unit we were in was clean and furnished nicely.

THE RESORT TRANSFER FEES IS ONLY $150!!! DO NOT GET FOOLED BY SOME SAYING THAT IT IS OVER $1230!!! SINCE THIS IS A DEEDED PROPERTY, IF YOU PREPARE THE DOCUMENTS YOURSELF, THE RESORT CHARGES $150 FOR TRANSFER FEES AND YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY ABOUT $100 TO THE MINISTER OF FINANCE!!!
ALSO IF YOU CHECK WITH THE RESORT THEY WILL TELL YOU IF THE PREVIOUS OWNER OWES ANY MONEY AND THEY WILL NOT ALLOW THE TRANSFER!!! SO NO NEED TO PAY FOR A GUARANTEED CLEAR TITLE!!! THE RESORT WILL GIVE YOU THAT INFO FOR FREE (AND YOU WILL SAVE THAT $395!!! THAT SOME CIE IS ASKING!!!) BEEN THERE!!!
RESORT WITH SO MANY ACTIVITIES ORGANIZED BY THE RESORT!!! SOME AT THE RESORT (AQUAFIT, CRAFT, ETC..) AND OUTSIDE THE RESORT: CASINORAMA NIGHT, CRUISE ETC... WE OWN THERE AND ALSO TAKE EXTRA VACATIONS DURING THE YEAR SO WE GO AT LEAST FOUR TIMES A YEAR... GREAT GOLF, SHOPPING, DINING ETC.
I READ SUSAN 132 COMMENT AND I AM VERY SURPRISED!!! WE WERE THERE LAST YEAR DURING THE SAME TIME JULY 22ND TO JULY 29TH 2006 AND THE UNITS WERE VERY CLEAN. ALSO, WE HAVE BEEN GOING TO CARRIAGE HILLS FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS FOR A TOTAL OF 12 TIMES AND EVERYTHING WAS ALWAYS PERFECT!!! WHEN SITUATION LIKE THIS HAPPEN, IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTIFY THE RESORT IMMEDIATELY SO THE SITUATION CAN BE CORRECTED, INSTEAD OF MAKING NEGATIVE COMMENTS AFTER THE FACT! ALSO THESE KIND OF COMMENTS CAN AFFECT THE RATING AND VALUE OF YOUR OWN RESORT!!!!

We stayed at this resort during the week of July 22 to 29 of 2006. We had a two bedroom (one bedroom with studio). We walked into the one-bedroom and it was filthy. There was hamburger grease on the wall under the window. The rest of the walls could have used a cleaning as well. The floor wasn't vacuumed or swept and when we cleaned it we found broken glass on the floor. We had to wipe out the fridge before using. The bed sheets were soiled in the studio and requested them to be changed. The dresser in the one- bedroom had personal things that was not throw out (q-tips, an unused bar of soap and a used bar of soap). This told us the unit wasn't cleaned even though it appeared that the towels were changed. We stayed at this resort in the past and was very diappointed with the cleanliness this time around. There wasn't much to do if you are on a budget but swim. They had a lot of activities for kids if they liked crafts. The kids enjoyed the racoon show at night time from our window. As this is our home resort, we will not be going back for any summer vacation - we will use it in the winter and/or exchange it.

We stayed at Carriage Hills for the first time Jul 31-Aug 6, 2005 and generally had a super time. Pluses are the good sized rooms, which were clean and well looked after. As all units are, this is a lockout type, and both sides have a king bed, which is really nice. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, etc. A slight negative was the small dining room table, with only four chairs, which along with the two stools at the counter, gave only seating for six, although the unit was supposed to house 8 people.
Check-in was terrible, with the lineup being more than an hour long. It is difficult to communicate with resort staff, as their offices are in Barrie, and the phone system is automated, with up to 5 levels to be navigated before you reach your intended recipient, if you are lucky.
However, once over that, we thoroughly enjoyed the resort, and the surrounding areas are full of interesting things to see and do.
We will not be exchanging this resort at any time, since we are already looking forward to our next stay there.

What an exceptional place, the area is superb. The friendly welcome from the time you arrive to the many functions for resort guests the staff continually meet all of your needs. The area is so close to so many wonderful places to explore. My all time favorite was a drive to the Alqonquin Forest where I actually saw not one Moose but 8 as we drove through the scenic park. The highlight for our children was a canoe ride on Canoe Lake and the pristine waters with the beautiful callling of the Loons as they swam nearby. Of course a short trip to Wasaga Beach on Lake Huron is a must, the water is warm and shallow and the kids walk for ever in the soft sands and delight in the only way a child can! Don't forget a night for the adults: the facility can provide superb babysitting services and the casino at Orilla is a short 20 minutes away or a lovely dinner at the Horsehoe Valley Spa only 2.5 miles away. Whatever your pleasure, your desires in vacation planning consider this awesome resort. We have been back all 4 seasons and have enjoyed each stay as much as the previous.

This is our home resort and we love it. We have stayed twice since becoming owners last year, and we are booked for another week in the fall when all the trees will be changing color. This is truly an all season resort.

Rooms are very large, includes a big TV and stereo. Across the road from a very nice golf course. Also right beside skiing, snowboarding and tubing hills. Great place to get away, relax and have some fun. Highly recommended.

We have only been here once, we stayed in the 1 bedrrom villa, this resort is the nicest resort I have ever seen with RCI. We are looking foward to getting a 2 bedroom to come back in the summer for our exchange from the manhattan club. This resort is truely one of our favorites, we might look towards purchasing our second week at this resort. A must see!!

I have stayed at Carriage Hills five times with my family and I must say the vacations there have been outstanding! The customer service was remarkable and the units were some of the best we have ever stayed in. My three young children ( ages 6,3,2) loved the activities and have asked to go back again. I can not say enough about this resort it is well worth the exchange and if your looking to buy I would think it would make a good investment!

These are the best units I have ever seen with RCI. A car is recommended to enjoy the area itself with lots to do. Skiing and Golfing is a big attraction for all ages. This resort is a must see. First resort to open its doors for skiing and the last to close, fresh snow is made when needed. This resort is what Gold Crown is all about. The rec facility is breath taking, a camera is recommended for the view this resort has to offer, swimming in an outdoor swimming pool in the middle of winter is great. Go West Grill/Crazy Horse restaurants are a nice touch to this resort if you like to eat out. The 2 bedroom units are perfect to show off to all your friends on what you get with Vacation Ownership. I think this resort is part of the Shell group which makes it a nice touch!!

These were very nice units. My only complaint is that there were children stomping around upstairs. That is not Carriage Hills Resort's fault, but when I asked one of their sales reps that called to see if everything was OK, she seemed to think there was nothing to do about it. The rooms are spacious and fairly well-kept, but our unit had a chair that was scorched due to the previous tenant leaving it too close to the fireplace. Still, I would go back! The rooms are much nicer than anywhere I have been yet.
