Description

Canaltime at Union Wharf is based on the Market Harborough arm of the Grand Union Canal. Accommodation is on a norrow- boat which travels 2-4 MPH. Cruising from Union Wharf for 6 miles takes you onto the Grand Union where you can travel north towards Lesicester or south through Foxton Locks. Foxton has 2 staircases of locks, each with 5 locks to navigate. Market Horborough is an attractive market town whose centre is within walking distance of Union Wharf. For cruising purposes guests must be fit and able-bodied and comply with the minimum occupancy policy.

I stayed here in late Nov '08 for 2 weeks, and enjoyed it. I rented a car at Manchester airport, but took the train into London 3x(70mi). The natives were friendly and helpful.

The problem was that RCI couldn't get me there in season, even though the resort had vacancies in Sep & Oct. I was the only guest, and it was cold. I also found out that it would have been cheaper for me to go there on my own nickel. So go there in the spring or fall, but don't use RCI.

This was a wonderfully unique and relaxing vacation. I can't wait to do this again!
