Thurnham Hall

We have stayed here twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Accomodation was excellent, the main building very interesting with its ghost stories etc. Our second visit allowed us to stay in the Suffolk suite which was beautifully decorated and first class.

The rec. centre on the property was a great facility for the kids. Resort is very centrally located for day trips in the car.

We stopped here for Christmas 2002.

The staff are exceptional, they really go the extra mile to see that you enjoy yourself.

We stopped in the Main Hall, the apartment was large and well equipped. If we had a complaint it was that the noise from the apartment above seemed to carry at night.

The restaurant is very good and the prices are surprisingly low, as are the bar prices.

In winter there are the biggest real fires you have ever seen which all add to a great atmosphere (particularly for christmas week).

The Lake District is close by and the resort runs a very good day trip there taking in Wordsworth's cottage and a boat ride on Windermere amongst other things followed by the creamiest cream tea you could imagine, your evening meal in the restaurant is even included in the price, again we found this very good value for money.

Overall an excellent resort which is a cut above the average.
