Villa del Palmar Cabo San Lucas

I have stayed at VDP-Cabo several times over the past 5 years, sometimes more than once a year. I love it there. There is variety for just about anything. Pools, food, drinks, shopping, etc. Everyone is always very friendly. Can't wait for my next trip.

Vacation perfect. Lots to do at the time share with wonderful nightly entertainment. The food at the restraunts was excellant. Very clean from waters edge to your entire unit. Friendly staff always ready to help you. The meal plan is well worth buying. I have been to a lot of timeshares and this is one of the best for food, swimming and entertainment.

This was our first vacation to a timeshare resort and I must say I was at first put off by the hard sales tactics. By the end of the vacation, however, and after finally getting how the sales system works, we went nuts with enjoyment about our pleasurable stay. Villa del Palmar is just far enough away from the noise and busy-ness of downtown Cabo, but close enough to walk/bus/taxi easily. The facility is lovely and clean. The pool/beach area has plenty of chaises and umbrellas. Staff is helpful. Activities are plentiful and fun. Bring your backup $$$ however -- you'll need every one.

We have stayed at Villa del Palmar twice. Both times were excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. The resort is well taken care of. We asked to change rooms to be closer to the pool, and they gladly accomodated us.

I stayed here in sept '07 for a friend's wedding. The place is nice, but there was a lot of fit & finish variance between the rooms of the wedding party guests (we all paid the same price).

The general hotel staff were friendly, but sometimes had trouble with basic requests. Generally everything was OK though.

The front desk was either well run or very slow. It always seemed to be very slow when I needed to leave a message for another guest. Check-out was fast though. Basically the resort was much better run than my 2003 stay, but I still saw several disgruntled guests during check-out.

Villa del Palmar was nice enough for a quick vacation. Not fancy, just average. It's clean, and not too far from town on a swimable beach. I think timeshare ownership at this resort is a waste of one's money though.

Perfect vacation. that Resort is just incredilible. I have nothing to complain about and beleive me I am very difficult so it is A++++++++++ I will go back for sure, it's so beautifull there

Well designed and maintained resort. Staff is very helpfull, thought it is advantages to know spanish to expedite requests from cleaning staff.

Have stayed at both the Cabo and puerto vallarta resorts. And both are of high quality. Kitchen is well equiped and one can make a gourmet meal if that is what turns you on.

Both resorts are so close to town and public transportation that it seems foolish at cabo to blow more that $5.00 for a cab that takes less than 5 minutes to get to town. Take the bus or enjoy a pleasant walk. Save the taxi when you have a full load of people and or you are partying on the town in the evening.

Regarding Timeshare presentations at the resort. the Development is notorious among timeshare seller as being very aggressive so be prepared for a grueling 120 minute present that will make you work to earn all the goodies they entice you with to attend. Most importantly what ever goodies that they offer you be sure to get it in writting and that it is described in detail. I also have learned not to attend a presentation at the place you are staying if you can avoid it, because the enticements are always of less value than if you were staying at another resort.

One previous reviewer gave the place a one star. the reviewer indicated that they were pived that security checked on the number of people staying in their rooms. Let me just say that there are those that do try to pack them like sardines to save a buck and do not have class enough to know what a relaxing vacation is about.

I support management doing its job in this regard because it is guests that play by the rules that are the ones that suffer staying next to a studio that should hold two being packed with 6.

Needless to say I make sure that management is aware of such a problem when it affects me and (reflecting the high quality of the place) it quickly gets resolved. I would expect nothing less of a quality establishment. Villa del palmar is a quality establishment.

Stayed here on an Interval International exchange. Was very pleased and it exceeded my expectations. Excellent location, nice amenities. Would stay here again!

We are owners of two 3 bedroom fixed week units at Villa del Palmar Cabo.

Since 2005, new management has provided significant hotel operation improvements.

In 2006 YTD, the following improvements have been made:

New lounge chairs and umbrellas were added.

Blue/gray speckles added to pool surfaces greatly improved the water color aesthetics.

Kids pool water heating was re-instituted for bather comfort.

Re-model of rooms included removal of concrete platform that support bed mattress in each room. Replacement mattress box springs support in each room provides a level of sleeping comfort expected by guests.

Units with hot tub on deck have new modern design hot tub replacement.

New kitchen/bathroom countertops installed. Where appropriate, new faucet hardware was replaced.

Wood furniture surface re-stained and new decorative room furnishings installed.

Staff customer service training programs instituted provide the continuous training environment to assure the best possible vacation experience for VDP Cabo guests.

We have stayed here once or twice a year for the last six. The location is the best! It gives you some distance from much of the hullabaloo, but you can get there easily on foot or taxi. The spa, the grocery, the beach, the pools! Should I go on? The kitchen allows us to save some money. We make fruit smoothies for breakfast and enjoy them on our balcony overlooking the pools. The place is great for helping us arrange for activities and meal reservations. With Costco nearby, we can stock up on things we have at home -- the place has become a home away from home. Of the four five-star resorts we have stayed in Cabo, this one is best all around!

One of the best locations in Cabo with a great view of the Arch. We were there in May and the water was a little chilly but were told later in the year it warms up. Easy walk to downtown and all the restaurants so we never had to rent a car. The beds were a little hard but after purchasing the timeshare Penthouse during the holiday week they were more than willing to move us and I'll have to say the Penthouse has fabulous furnishings with great beds. You are a little harassed by the sales people but we found that all over Cabo. We bought there so we will definitely liked it enough to want to come back every year.

Stayed last winter. The resort was nice outside, but the rooms and beds were not the greatest.

At check in, we were told that the room we were supposed to have was not available. We had six people in our party, but they gave us a one bedroom that slept four. All of the people around us were furious because they were doing the same to them. They promised a two bedroom the next day, but again it was not avaiable. Only when I asked them to call Interval International from the front desk did they give us an additional studio unit. They promised a dinner for all of us for the hassle. The dinner was their nightly bufffet from hell.

If you go here be prepared for a battle. Not a good way to start a vacation.

Last time I went as a guest of a time share owner a few years ago, and villa Del Palmar would not let me use the gym, etc without an extra charge.( That is not what the owner told me) Other wise it was fine. It is not a luxury resort but clean etc. The time share push is a bit much. There is a market in town with an excellant bakery that has prices half that as the on site market. We are going again in Dec, so I willpost another review and the address of the supermaket.

There Valentine's week this year. Nice resort. Many units, so many people at the pool - get there early for towels. Large unit, although starkly furnished. Bed is a mattress on a raised concrete platform - hard and hard to get used to. Bring coffee, coffee filters and paper towels, as they are not furnished. Friendly staff, spa adequate, try the Beach Yoga! Also grab one of those 6 peso "collectivo" buses to town. Easy and lot cheaper than taxis. Go to Mi Casa for dinner.

My family stayed in a one bedroom condo there this past New Years Week and had a wonderful time. The staff is very friendly, lots of activities, good beach,lovely pool w/ Awesome waterslide! A bit pricey, but that's Cabo. The only down side was the housekeeping service was less than wonderful. Two times during our stay of 8 nights, they never made up our room. Venture out of the resort into downtown Cabo to eat...there are some great restaurants and it is very safe!!

Treating guests like criminals!!!!!!Look out for the security in the parking lots, they are out to get you, they tried to accuse us of having more people in our room than we checked in. They did it like we were common criminals, we had 6 units in use with guests for a wedding. We were literally attacked by the hotel clerks and security when we came in from dinner. I am an timeshare owner there and I am furious! We spent thousands of dollars for rooms for people and to be treated like that. I am going to make sure that people are aware of how the guests are treated there. I have gone there for 11 years but will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!

The best resort in Cabo, excellent food, fun and service.

Just returned from one week at VDP. This is a very nice resort with an outstanding location. The condition of the resort was excellent and the service was also excellent. There was a good variety of on site entertainment/music and food. On site shopping also was very good with a well stocked grocery, deli, video rental, ice creme shop, and internet cafe. (Prices were high unless you went to a timeshare presentation to get a 20% discount certificate.)

One major drawback was phone service. I understand all the public phones were removed by the resort management so that you had to use the resort long distance service. Costs appear to be about $2-3 per minute to the US though I couldn't tell because there was no detailed billing. You could not use an 800 number or make collect calls from the resort. Closest public phone is in downtown Cabo about a mile away.

One other drawback was that these are right- to-use timeshares (typical in Mexico as compared to deeded property in the States). That means the management is always looking for ways to get more revenue from the users. There was a $4/day charge per room for tips. We didn't know that until we checked out and had already tipped everyone. There was an $8/day charge to use the exercise area if you were non-owners (trading from another resort). There were pool towels supplied but there was a $22 charge for each towel not returned at the end of the day. This caused daily arguments with the pool towel person unless everyone in your party brought back their towels at the same time. Aside from the above items and the constant barteing in Mexico, this would be a 5 star.

Cabo is a small and friendly resort town with many American tourists. Food, overall, was average to dissapointing but the view and the weather make up for it. An oceanside resort with a dry sunny desert climate is an unusual but wonderful combination.

One of the finest resorts in Baja. Close enough to the city and night life, but far enough away for peace and quiet. Truly, a place to get much needed rest and relaxation.

Just returned from Cabo. VDP was a beautiful resort with a great location. Easy 20 minute walk to center of town, private beach, beautiful grounds. Had 3 kids who had a blast. Loads of poolside activities daily, great staff but needed to get to pool by 9:30-10:00 to get lounge chairs. Everyone at resort very pleasant and helpful. The only drawbacks were no supplies in kitchen, no dishwasher, no dishsoap, towels etc. Beds were on a wooden platform, no boxspring so very hard. Pillows were small and flat and useless. We had a great time and would go back next year.The location is great to the downtown area. A bus stops right by the hotel and will go to town for 60 cents a person or you can get a private taxi for 6 people for about 6 dollars. We met people at other resorts who were a 20 minute ride from town ina taxi and it costs them a fortune to go out at night. Overall, great place but bring your own pillows!

The resort is well maintained and the staff is excellent. Limited television coverage and they add a 3.50 a day cost to room for tipping pool and grounds help. I refused to pay it. Maintainance should cover those expenses.

I own at this resort, Disney Boardwalk, Marriott Grande Ocean, Marriott Palm Desert and the Westin Regina in Cabo. I have never had a problem getting supplies for the villa. I have never had a problem sleeping on the beds and the happy hour at the pool is great. I view our two units at the Villa Del Palmar as being our fun and economical villas and our unit at the Westin not nearly as economical but more elaborate villa. The same breakfast at the Westin is twice as much and not any better and their drinks are very expensive!!! The Westin gives you a small dormitory refrigerator, trying to force you to buy their drinks and food. The only problem I have with the Villa del Palmar is their specials they offer vacationers, who are not owners, and not giving priority on room locations to the owners. The prime locations of rooms should be given to owners who pay maintenance fees and return every year and not to people who take advantage of specials for reduced room rates.

I stayed at this resort in early January 2003 and found the resort to be substantially above average. The night life at the pool could be improved, with the help of the Activities Director. The bars in the resort are almost dead! Unlike other tropical locations, the beach bar is not a fun place to visit.

I went to the timeshare presentation, but did not purchase. I was informed it was a fluke that I was able to trade into this resort, and it would never happen again, not in a thousand years! Well in January of 2004 a thousand years will have passed, as I'll be back at Villa del Palmar in Cabo.

I did find the market to be a bit spendy. I looked around downtown Cabo for a supermarket, but didn't find one. Poolside tropical drinks were reasonably priced.

Contrary to another posting, dish towels and additioal appliances are available at the resort. You just need to establish a friendship with the housekeeping staff.

It was a very relaxing experience.

Took our family (2 boys 13/18) and had a great time. Great room/great pools/restaurant food could be a bit better/theme nights/everyone very nice. Great location to get to downtown and other beaches. Will go back again!

I had a wonderful vacation at this resort, every amenity you could imagine from the spa to the internet cafe,& full *supermarket* watersports& day tours it was all right there for you.The beach was beautiful along with it's perfect view of the arch. The staff was very accomodating every request was fulfilled, the restaurants were good but there are restaurants everywhere in Cabo so we only ate there one night. We had a 1 bedroom that was very spacious, overall we really loved the place & we rented from Felipe Borrero one of the renters listed here and he was wonderful to do business with, the transaction went very smoothly and the resort was everything he promised it would be!!!!

This property is beautiful but nothing is provided in the units. There was no paper towel, one dish towel in the kitchen...no dish clothes (only a small sponge), no salt and pepper (they did have the shakers), no dish washing soap. Very disappointing.

The beds were the worst I've ever encountered. I am chubby and even I had a problem with how hard they were. We had to ask for a pad in order to be able to sleep on them.

I would not go back there unless I took a very large kit of supplies with me.

We stayed at this resort for 1 week and its the best experience we've had to date. The grounds, beach, pools and restraunt are all excellent. The on site activites were also fun. We enjoyed being able to swim in the Ocean and our walks into town each evening. We'd go back any time.

The best resort I never find in 40 years.

Every room has an ocean view. Amenities include 2 pools, tennis courts, SPA, daily maid service etc. Rooms are spacious and well done. 2 bedroom units have 3 baths.

Fabulous resort where staff is friendly and professional. Amenities are super with something for everyone. This resort offers you a vacation to remember!

This was one of the best vacations we have had! This resort is beautiful, people were friendly, lots of activities were going on every day if you wanted to participate, and the rooms were great!
