Description

Discovered by Captain Cook in 1770, Banks Peninsula protects Akaroa Harbor, home to Club Lavaud. In 1840, namesake for Club Lavaud, Captain Charles Lavaud, led 63 emigrants to settle the area. And though the Treaty of Waitangi pronounced British sovereignty for the area, these hearty French remained to settle Akaroa. In 1850, many British joined the French settlers and established one of New Zealand's main whaling and fishing ports. Beside rich history, guests will find great relaxation and recreation in the area. Experience the beach, golf, tennis horseback riding and golf all within easy reach of the resort.

Akaroa is a very quaint town with an interesting history. Settled by French and now retains a distinct french flavour in many ways.

The resort itself consists of 4 units (2 story) and is reasonably convenient. However they are not sited for the sun and could be cold in winter.

Interior decorating is quite pleasant and staff are friendly and helpful ( not on duty all the time )

One advantage is that it is possible to eat out or explore the town and surrounds on foot and you only need your vehicle for longer trips to nearby bays and wineries, etc.
