Incredible. Not a traditional gringo resort. This hotel is set up in the mountains. We were one of 2 guests in perhaps 60 units. The pool was right outside our studio unit, and was all to ourselves.
This hotel is charming. You feel less like a tourist. The larger rooms had palapas and jacuzzi's on the balcony.
This hotel is not the ritz, but it is truely a taste of Mexico.
There are quite a few steps, and the hotel meanders around the existing rock face. Not for anyone with physical challenges or very young children...but don't be put off. Well worth it.
Cab rides were about $5, to the Malecon. About $3 to romantic zone. Romantic zone is walking distance (but returning up a steep hill).
We had an iquana living on our small patio, and visiting us along the pool foliage...spectacular sunsets coloring this and the other mountain's villas purple and red. Unbelievable. Highly recommend! Happy to give any more feedback!

Stayed here in Dec 03 and loved it. It's on the hillside providing fantastic views of the city and bay. Very quiet and peaceful. This isn't where you want to stay if you're looking for the mega glitzy resort on the beach. Our unit was clean, comfortable, and had it's own jacuzzi tub on the patio. The staff was excellent and very friendly.
