We liked Bay Club II...it's quiet and
respectable.
There are a lot of activities in the Sandestin
complex which are quite entertaining. Bring
a few extra bucks as things are rather expen-
sive. This is a Fairfield property whereas Bay
Club isn't. Dave Carey

We stayed at Bay Club II in May 2007, 2 bedroom, 2 bath. It was beautiful and most important - clean.
We enjoyed the pool as well as going to the beach. We used the shuttle to get from place to place which is a plus. You don't have to use your car and the shuttle service is free.

One of our favorite places. We love the beautiful scenery at Bay Club 2. So much to do on site, and great hospitality. The accommodations are very nice and restful.

Bay Club II is newer than Bay Club and a stroll in the halls of Bay Club gives the inpression that it shows it's age and may be in need of updating. Bay Club II though is still pretty nice though after a day or two we started to notice that the carpet is due to be replaced, at least in the unit we were in.
The Bay Club development seems to be the lower end units of the high end San-Destin resort park. Thus for the price your amongst some very nice developments including the Hilton with access to all of the high class amenities.
The Bayclub is near the bay and has no view of the Gulf. The north side of the building may have a gulf view.
There are several pools but only one within walking distance and it is crowded and rather small.
The beaches in the Destin area are mostly privately owned and so is the small beech access at Sandestin. The beaches are narrow to start with and the resorts reserve most of the beach for their chairs and umbrellas that you can rent for $200 to $300 per week for one set. Or you can pitch your own umbrella in the tide or behind the resorts and hope you don't get runover by vehicles that may travel on the beach. One benefit of the private beach though is no shady characters.
I saw a claim that Sandestin has many miles of beach - they must have been including the bay side which is a mixture of golf courses, marshes, marina and woodlands. Not the broad sandy dune beaches one might envision.
There is free bus service to get you around the Sandestin resort park and there is a lot to do within the park. Sandestin offers activities for kids and miles of paths both paved and rustic are great for bike rides and romantic walks.
The many ponds and inlets are great for small tackle fishing.
Baytowne Warf, a conference center that doubles as a faux quaint town, is fun if you can get over the made for tourist feel. Nightly live music on the dock and resort priced food and drinks await you. Just for kicks, be sure to take the short shuttle boat trip to baytowne especially at 9pm on Wednesday to watch a small fireworks display on the boat.
Customer service at the Bayclubs, at least for renters who have made it clear they absolutely have no interest in buying a timeshare, is rather poor. One of our guests was injured by a faulty table in the evening yet management never even contacted us to check on her condition. We recieved better customer service from Sandestins security staff than from the Bayclub front desk.
The two bedrooms have nice large dining tables but ours was not properly assembled and colapsed. So you will want to watch out for that as the maintenance men indicated it is a recurring problem.
Otherwise the amenities were rather nice. The jacuzzi actually fit two people and the master bedroom is better than most high end homes. There is a tv in each room of the unit. The kitchen is as big as most home kitchens with full size appliances.
Over-all we had a good time. We're just unhappy with the Bayclub mangement and it's approach to maintenance. The Sandesitn development gets high marks except for the beach.
