We just spent New Year's Eve 2012 here and were very happy with everything. We did attend the "meeting" to sell us a timeshare because we wanted the free breakfast buffet (would have cost us $75 on our own) and discount show tickets (1/2 price on Tournament of Kings). We had a rental car so I don't know how the shuttle worked personally, but my brother and his family met us there and they used it for going downtown on New Year's Eve and were happy with it. We watched the festivities from our room because our children are small and most were asleep by then. The South Coast Casino is right next door and had awesome movies, bowling alley, and other amenities available though we didn't use them as we were there to visit with family and did more outdoor things - hiking, Hoover Dam, etc. It was great to be out of the Strip and quieter but we could be there in 10 minutes if we wanted. Had a great view of the lights etc also.

Beautiful newer resort on far south end of the strip. I rarely give 5 stars but I did for this resort, except for its location -- I just wish it was a bit farther north; however they do have shuttles you can sign up for shopping, downtown Vegas, and various areas of the Strip -- in case you don't have a rental car. Staff is profesional and courteous, rooms are very clean and have luxurious furnishings and features. The condo tower complex is one of the larger ones on the South Strip and it is near the South Pointe Complex: Casion, 24 Screen movie theater, Bowling, Bingo, 2 stadium/concert venues etc. While we were there, there were 2 rodeos and later a country music star performing. About 7 restaurants within walking distance. You'll need a car though for grocery shopping.

Our stay was the first week of January 2011. We had a great time and plan on returning. For others like myself who like gathering as much info as possible prior to taking a trip, I thought I would pass along helpful hints from our experience:

*The room itself- Check-in was very quick and easy. We had no trouble finding our unit. It was very clean, the jacuzzi tub was fabulous, the one bedroom had plenty of room for two to have their own space (especially when your guy is watching Super Bowl playoffs Sat and Sun afternoon), and the kitchen had all the normal appliances and utensils you would expect. The two bedroom is two one bedroom units connected by a common entryway. Perfect for two couples traveling together, or folks with older children.

*Timeshare presentation- Have to say we did attend one. Best advice is to go as early in your stay as possible. We firmly and politely declined all offers and were in and out in 90 min with $150 in food vouchers for the Southpoint casino which is next door.

*Staff and services- Front desk was always nice and helpful. The day we checked in we thought there was a problem with the TV. Maintenance was there within 30 min, turns out the TV worked fine, it was human error using the remote. If you stay 7 nights, the room will be cleaned once mid-stay. There is a garbage chute on every wing of every floor. We were quite pleased to see security walking the premises during the evenings and nights. There were no vagrants, or any other disturbances.

*Transportation- Car rental was available from the concierge desk, but there were no rentals available when we wanted. We walked to the car rental up the street about 1/2 mile. There was plenty of parking at the timeshare. A cab to the strip cost $30 each way, plus tip. Grandview does have a shuttle to the strip, $8 each way. You do have to go on their schedule to their dropoff/pickup points, which was not unreasonable. The shuttle will also take you to the airport for $8, and you need to preschedule. A free shuttle goes several times a week to the grocery store, so make sure you know the times for it. There was a public transportation system bus that ran from the Southpoint, but we never attempted to use it.

*Gaming- The Southpoint is directly next door, no more than a 10 minute walk from any of the units. The casino has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, several very good restaraunts, and a good buffet. There is a large movie theater and bowling alley within the casino building, and they also have a spa and liquor store. It is a very short drive over to the M or Silverton.

*Grounds and amenities- We did not use the pool area because we were there in Jan. The snack bar/convenience shop had very little, some paper goods and egg/bread/milk staples. There was a business center that I used on a daily basis for free. There were about 8 terminals and a printer. You are automatically logged off after 30 min of useage, but you can log back on the terminal as long as nobody is waiting. You can purchase show and entertainment tickets for strip venues from the concierge at some pretty good discounts, they have a flier available so you can think about your options.

We hope this info is useful to any and all heading to Vegas. We enjoyed our stay at the Grandview and do plan on returning.
