I spent 8 days here in January 2006. This resort is not a Timeshare, but private residences are available on the Four Seasons website. The location is beautiful. Staff service was still uneven when I was there, as the company's policy is to hire and train local people as a large proportion of the overall staff complement. For example, the restaurants and service were topnotch, but the shared washing machines on the beach cabanas were damaged and improperly maintained, with at least one out of order all week. In the gym, one male attendant seemed to spend all his time playing the music he wanted to listen to while hiding in the closet, and not doing much else. There were many activities listed, but in January, there were not enough registrants to activate them. A caution is that later in 2006, malaria was detected in Great Exuma. Check for health reports before travel, as the mosquitos are healthy and do bite during the evening hours. Great Exuma is a small and formerly very isolated community. Tourism development is almost incongruous in this context. By the way, the best bank to deal with is Scotiabank, and we could obtain local currency at the nearby branch, which was located within walking distance. In closing, and very importantly, the beaches, crystal clear water and sunsets could not be topped anywhere. Bigger developments are/were coming, with luxury homes and a massive marina popping up quickly.
