This is one of the friendliest places I have stayed. I try to stay here an often as possible. It is small in number of units so you are not over run with others. There are 1,2,& 3 bedrooms, and they are all hugh. Great view of ocean across the street. Great pool!

Close to all casinos. Beau and Hardrock only 1 mile. A car would be best to see all the area. There is a casino shuttle that stops out in front of building though.

Just returned from a stay here (3/2008). The Chateau LeGrand has been refurbished extensively--almost seems new--after the effects of Hurricane Katrina. Furniture, bedding, and linens were new, kitchen freshly painted but with older (working) appliances, and ceramic floor tiling was new. My only complaint was the staining on the bedroom carpet (though it did seem imbedded and not a lack of typical cleaning). The staff was helpful and all disposable supplies (soap, t.p., etc.) were replenished on request. The units are on 5 floors (w/elevator). The one-bedroom unit we had (#509) was on the side of the building; the exterior faced the Hampton Inn but the side of its balcony faced the Gulf. Being on the highest floor and in the unit closest to the building front gave unobstructed water views. (Larger units--more bedrooms--seem to be at the front of the building with complete Gulf views.) The units are nicely soundproofed from each other but count on train noise to disrupt your early morning sleep (I don't think you can get away from it anywhere nearby and you do get used to it). The Chateau is about 1 mile from the extravagantly beautiful Beau Rivage Casino and, even though sections of the beach walkway are under repair, is an easy walk. Other casinos can be reached on foot from the Beau (Hard Rock) or by taking the Casino Shuttle from the Beau. An adequate grocery is right around the corner from the Chateau, about a 2-mile drive. Because of hurricane damage, no restaurants were available except for all the casino restaurants. Plan on buffets for breakfast or dinner if you want to pig out for a reasonable price. If you have a car, the Dungeness Crab buffet at the Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis was scads better than the much-advertised King Crab buffet at the Boomtown Casino in Biloxi. The Chateau is less than 2 hours from New Orleans if you want to make the trip--we did! All in all a good experience.

This is a great resort for families, we were there on the 4th of July for the first time. The resort is across the street from the beach and a few minutes from the casinos and some great places to eat. We enjoyed the fireworks show on the beach and also the spectacular view from our balcony. The condo was very large and the washer and dryer was inside each unit, which was very helpful, the staff was very helpful and friendly, you felt like you were one big happy family.
