This is for people who like the mountains. Don't come here looking for circus rides and kiddie parks.

If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing week in the mountains at an excellent price, this is it.

Sky Valley is about ten miles from Highlands, NC, and a day trip to many Georgia, NC and SC vacation areas.

Nice location in the mountains, but if you don't like to hike, it's a pretty bad vacation. We arrived the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and planned to stay through Sunday. By Friday, we were on our way back home to Spartanburg, SC, 2hrs away.

The Good: Great weather and hiking. Great Italian restaurant in Clayton, GA... something like Mrs G's. Anyway, I'd drive there alone for the Pizza; just like the best I've had since what I've had in Little Italy in Cleveland, OH.

The Bad: Most everything else. Crappy accomodations badly in need of maintenance. I've used RCI for Fairfield transfers for over ten years and this is in my top three worst maintained resorts I've ever stayed. Poor cleaning with cobwebs and spill stains everywhere, including the front door. Golf course is closed for a major facelift. The ski lodge appears to have been closed for years and in need of major repairs. Dillard, GA was a joke! Other than some trashy road side tourist traps, there was nothing there! Clayton, GA was much nicer, but after a few hours, what else is there to do. If you don't like hiking, you will be very bored!

Pass on Sky Valley Resort, and remember, I told you so!

Sky Valley is a wonderful resort as a romantic get away or a family vacation. It is in the mountains with breath-taking views - even has its own waterfall on the property which one can walk to. It has an excellent golf course and large outdoor pool (kept exceptionally clean). The units themselves are spacious and comfortable. We often go white water rafting, horseback riding and we have even gone ruby mining in the area. We go back there as often as we can.

We stayed there a couple of years ago in the summer. Spacious units, great views. The pool was a big hit with the children.

We've stayed here several times and love it. The staff is friendly and there are lots of things to do in the area. The units are well kept and spacious. We love being the mountains in the fall and winter and this is a great place to enjoy it.
