Re: Manhattan Club Lawsuit (by Chris V.):
hello glennb181,
losing your employment is so unfortunate! even without that burden, the manhattan club developers have defrauded all owners with, among other criminal sales schemes, excessive, exponentially exorbitant maintenance fees (which we were told by the sales personnel would "rise slightly" over years of ownership.) i started with a $600 per year maintenance fee per week owned. it's now close to $3,600, not quite noted as a "slight" raise over the years. the manhattan club corporate management, headed by ian bruce eichner has admitted to criminal fraud in court vs the former new york state attorney general, and been fined $6,000,000 for this fraud and prohibited from doing any further timeshare business. this is what the former new york state attorney general "SETTLED" for, which hasn't helped any defrauded owners such as you and me.
to your point: this is NOT my recommendation but, for only your consideration, which offers you a chance to dispose of your manhattan club obligation.
the manhattan club has arranged for owners to RELINQUISH OWNERSHIP if they choose (another option is to keep paying maintenance and keep in good standing with your ownership.) keep in mind that this relinquish option means that you lose completely your initial purchase investment, a total criminal disgrace on the part of the manhattan club. the manhattan club does NOT BUY BACK, JUST OFFERS RELINQUISHMENT. the sales department had told us that purchasing in the manhattan club would be an excellent investment opportunity for the possibility of selling your share in the future. that's one of the biggest fallacies of all. owners can't even get more than $100 for resale.
for accurate information on the method of RELINQUISHING OWNERSHIP, call the manhattan club FINANCIAL SERVICES OFFICE at the following number and indicate your intention to relinquish your ownership:

sincere wishes for good luck in improving your current unfortunate financial situation!!

I have complained to them that the ongoing maintenance fees were more than what I could rent an apartment for via on line booking. We are Australian and have never been so disappointed and distressed over a purchase. Living in Australia we do not hear any of the legal lawsuits etc that have been going on. I have recently lost my employment and cannot pay the annual maintenance fees and have now been hit with Late charges etc. Could anybody advise me how to dispose of our unit, or can you just give it back at no charge Regards and thanks for any advice or help Glenn Baggs
