It's okay to ask for more information or for clarification if the question asked is not defined perfectly, but I don't condone berating the questioner for the way they presented their question. We were all newbies once and not everybody is as internet savvy as others and some people are also typing challenged.
I try to give all questioners the benefit of the doubt and if I have a question for them about something that's unclear, I try to ask it in a nice way.
