RCI will not verify ownership. You have to call the resort to verify if the person renting you their timeshare is the owner, or the owner can send you some form of verification of ownership by fax or email. The fact that this person didn't return your calls or emails raises a bright red flag. You did your due diligence, but you contacted the wrong entity (RCI).
Please don't give up on renting timeshares. Most people are honest and trustworthy and you can get some very good deals renting from owners on Redweek but next time contact the resort, not RCI.
