You own a floating week via the resort so you can rent out your floating week as long as it hasn't been deposited with an exchange company. In this case an exchange company hasn't been involved in any shape, form or fashion.
What many people do with their floating week is book a highly demanded week via the resort, such as a holday week, then rent it out. Some owning floating weeks choose to advertise it as weeks 1-52 and if someone is interested in a certain week, the owner then contacts the resort to see if that week is available.
