DVC points are points that will maintain their value in future years. I would think they would go up in price in coming years .... the same is not true for most other point systems. Are you thinking of buying resale or from the developer? You could possibly find DVC points for sale for cheaper than $90 pp if you researched the internet.

Having said that, I would never buy DVC points to trade (too expensive) ... I would buy DVC points to use.
