You said the company contacted you? That being the case, that usually spells scam. Legitimate licensed real estate brokers generally have enough business without having to telemarket unsuspecting timeshare owners.

The one rule to remember when dealing with companies connected to timeshares is to never, ever pay anyone a large, upfront fee to sell, rent out, market, or "get rid of/cancel" your timeshare.

It does not matter what euphimistic name they attach to this fee, if they require you to pay any sort of large fee ($80 or more), then it is a scam.

And please ignore any shill postings in this thread where people claim that this company miraculously brokered a sale of a worthless timeshare getting the owner an amount of money that dreams are made of.

Remember that the majority of timeshares on the resale market are selling for no more than $1000. Some can't even be given away right now so be patient and realistic in your efforts to sell (or give away) your timeshare.

Lance is exactly right .... when a timeshare resale company cold calls you out of the blue they are scams. Legitimate timeshare resale companies don't do cold calls.
