is it possible to donate a time share to a non profit company without having to pay?

I don't know of any socalled non-profit entity that would take a timeshare without you paying a large upfront fee AND then the timeshare will, more than likely, still be in your name and you're responsible for all fees related .... the overwhelming majority of the bogus charities are scams. All they want is that upfront fee.

I haven't found any legitimate companies that donate timeshares to charities. There are a few however who have gone through the trouble to register fake non-profit companies in order to keep up appearances. Some of them will even register their fake charity as a 501(c)3, but that title is usually revoked when they inevitably fail to donate anything to anyone.

You can check with the IRS if a company has received tax exempt status:

But like I mentioned above, sometimes these companies will actually be licensed as a non-profit corporation for a period of time.
