In removing posting abilities for all of these "characters" the other day I somehow missed "imtheo" which is the username that came from "imthe one". Clever, huh? I apologize for missing this one but it was removed on Friday. SO, if there are any new ones I'll be taking them out as well. Enough foolishness from this person.

Thanks, Marty

No apologies are necessary or appropriate, Marty. You were astute enough and observant enough to catch (and deal with) the creation of all the assorted (but actually non-existent) "Villa Trader cheerleaders" in the first place. Having "imtheo" left briefly behind to discredit made for some easy and educational sport, from which readers here may benefit. Well done.

Thanks and sincere best wishes for the New Year.

Thanks, Ken. Our VT cheerleader is a rather entertaining fella. Interesting to think he's a "lawyer".

Have a blessed and healthy New Year, Ken!

Thanks for the forum dealing with the Villa Trader. Their sales people have been pestering me for three days on selling my 154,000 Marina El Cid points. Exact sales pitch as described above. We need the $2,000 up front to advertise and do a title search. I told them to e-mail the paperwork. So they did, a simple doc for advertising . I pushed the sales fellow for a guarantee, which he could not provide. Again he provided a Florida Timeshare Resale License #TC139036 and the company License #TC3123. If anyone wants the paperwork I will forward.

My strong guess, this is a fraud.

My experience with RedWeek = positive. I have rented once to a family in Canada and our family has rented once in Palm Desert.

Sincerely

Bill

Yes like to see what they sent you, they called my wife told her our El Cid points were sold and the had 20% down, OK if they have this much money down why do they still need 2,000 handling fee

They guys knows that we have weeks booked plus current points and our dues

The BBB is useless when it comes to upfront fee companies. The BBB tells you that YOU quoted the price for your timeshare when in actuality it's the upfront fee company rep. Then it's the he said/she said syndrom. This is how the upfront fee companies get away with it.

Villa Trader called me today. I told them we were already signed up with RSC to rent our property. Amy said she would have Jason call me back on Friday. She also state that most of their clients were interested in renting as for one reason or another they did not qualify to purchase. I decided to see if there was anything onthe web to try and be a little more educated. Sounds as though they are a scam from all of the comments that I have read. No money up front from here you can be sure.

I would try to tell my story about Villa Trader, becuase English is not my mother language. I was contacted yesterday by a girl from that company and asked me if I wanted to sell my timeshare property in Westgate Resorts (Westgate Villas). She has all the information about my timeshare and told me that they have a couple from Canada that was interested in it and wanted to pay $26,000. At the beginning, she told me that I don´t have to pay anything and talk and talk as if she was reading a document. I was not able to answer or ask any question, becuase she was "recording" to show the conversation to the couple (??). She also asked me to open "inmediately" my email box, because she was sending me "all" the information. I told her that my personal computer was damaged and only next day (today) I could read it in my office. She told me then that should talk with the Finantial Manager in order to decide what to do, because they have other 3 sellers and if I was not able to anwer them accepting the deal "inmediately" I will lost this fabulous opportunity. The "Finantial Manager" called me back with the same story and then told me that I have to pay $1,500 for legal papers (!!!!). I asked her how she pretend me to pay so easeily to an organization I don´t know that it could be a fraud. she told me that I have to trust them, because they won´t steal my money. Today I opened the mai and the only document that I received was an authorization to charge in my credit card for the money. Any otherr information. In this document it is posted the following information: "I hereby grant The Villa Trader permission to register my property on The Villa Trader website and network." and this other: "Thereafter, this is a non-refundable agreement. If for any reason your timeshare exceeds the 90 day time frame, we will renew your agreement at no additional cost to you". I can understand that I won´t see back my money. In the other hand this kind of organization always wants people to answer inmediately, so they can´t seek for information like this forum and reject the offer. Thanks to this forum, I won´t be cheated.

Don't do it and in fact you should have just said not interested yesterday and hung up!

Why people waste their time with these phone calls is unblievable. These scam artist will call and be nice until you put them in their place and have a buyer that will pay you five times more than any resale price and still people sit there and hear this bull knowing its a scam.

What I have never understood is why first question isn't "How did you get my name and phone number".

Second question is" I don't care what you call it but are there ANY upfront charges"

Many people come on here and say they get these phone calls but are not trying to sell so where did they get the phone number and resort information?

I hope you did not give them any information or money because it will be gone and you will not sell your timeshare!

That is how they operate. They lie to people and tell them there are buyers waiting to pay 100 times more than a timeshare is worth, but all they need is upfront money. Then the buyers and your money disappear. Congrats for resisting the tempation to give your money to these people.

They tell you you they have a buyer waiting, but they send you paperwork for them to list your property on their website and will give you a "free" renewal (how nice of them) if your timeshare did not sell. Why would they want to list your timeshare if they already had a buyer interested? It's because they don't have a buyer.

Exactly. That was I though when I read the small letters. They have been calling me today, but I was out of my office, but I answered the e-mail in which they sent me the autorization of payment by my credit card that I refused the transaction, becuase I am not interested to give my money as a blind faith act.

My experience has been very similar to others expressed: Thank God I took their sales pitch no further...I am incensed that El Cid released my info to them and suspect they are in cahoots...The only thing I worry about was I authorized a "recorded verbal authorization" for them to contact El Cid to find out if there were any liens, suits, etc before they continued with processing. I came to my senses and refused to pay the $2,000 until I recieved the 20% deposit the "buyers" put down. In fact, thats a twist I haven't seen mentioned: how they have buyers, they swipe their card for the 20% deposit, it goes thru, congratulations! you have a sale!, send us $2,000!...Anyway, does anyone know if I have exposed myself thru this recorded authorization? And is there any recourse against El Cid Resorts for selling my info? Could they actually be working together? We are taking a vacation in Mazatlan Mar 21 and I plan to give them an earful (on our last day, to be safe!)

WOW! IM SO GLAD I DIDN'T READ YOUR UNFAIR LINK PRIOR TO DOING BUSINESS WITH THE VILLA TRADER. HONESTLY, I PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE DONE BUSINESS WITH THEM; HOWEVER, I DID DO BUSINESS WITH THE VILLA TRADERS AND SOLD MY TIMESHARE IN FLORIDA (ORANGE LAKES). I RECEIVED MY OFFER OF $9,500. THESE PEOPLE WERE PROFESSIONAL AND ASSISTED ME THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS. SO SHAME ON YOU REDWEEK. AS A COMPETITOR, MAYBE YOU FOLKS SHOULD SELL MORE TIMESHARES INSTEAD OF CREATING NASTY REPORTS ON A COMPANY THAT I WILL RECOMMEND AND DO BUSINESS WITH AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED IN THE PAST BY COMPANIES LIKE YOURS THAT LOVE TO PULL THEMSELVES UP WITH LIES AGAINST STRONG COMPETITION.

_____________________________________________ Looks like another cheerleader for Villa Trader. So now "Athena's" forum posting ability has been removed as well. This person just keep coming back.

Thanks, Marty

Yes your thinking same way I did when I read this post. First clue is all CAPS! Anyone who has been on these forums before understands you don't use CAPS for the full posting. It has always been considered yelling and is very rude! Also only people that think they need to standout above others do it!

Also unless this is another one of these timeshare deals that includes a group of resorts this is another post that doesn't even name his or her resort. There are about five or six different Orange Lake Resorts in Flordia listed just on Redweeks ads.If they listed what they sold then others could check out prices on forums and probably find most of these people sold way over or just lying.

It is funny that they use these people that are not to bright or honest to make these calls!

They remind me of the old saying "IF THEIR BRAINS WERE MADE OF DYNAMITE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TO BLOW THEIR NOSE ".

This person is now trying to say Redweek should sell more timeshares as a competitor when everyone knows Redweek doesn't sell timeshares . They sell ad space to owners to run their own ads to sell like other forums or free sites like Craigslist.

You would think these people would learn about a forum before trying to pick a fight.
