Any info on if lease will be extended?

Nothing yet. The surrounding properties all seem to be renewing theirs. Hawaiian King next door just renewed theirs. AND if they renew, or don't renew, what does that mean for current owners?? If they renew, will we need to "buy in" again? Or just continue to pay maintance?

Update FYI: Celebrity is STILL not telling what they plan to do with the Waikiki property! We have received letter and telephone sales pitch, trying to get us to switch to a deeded Orlando "points" property that they own - for a fee, of course. The good news is they HAVE finally started letting owners book their time at the Waikiki property - for 2009. A lot of possibilities still up in the air.

What are your thoughts on the Special Assessment that we have to pay by March 15th 2009? What happens if we don`t pay?

We own at Celebrity Waikiki and this is the last year of the property lease. After collecting our annual dues they sent us a bill for $695 as a special assessment to cover "projected Deficits" of over 1 million dollars plus bad debt plus severance pay for employees. In addition they are not taking reservations past April 30, 2009 and our time slot starts in June. They say they may close early and in that case we will be out over $1400. In addition we are under threat of a 40% collection fee plus interest. I would not do business with them for any reason since they do not even respond to our inquiries. Black-what

I am thinking about turning my week over to Celebrity and forgetting all about the assessment! Seems that is what a lot of people having time at White Sands have done! We have already used our 2009 time so we're done anyway!

As far as I know you just call them and tell them you no longer want it and you are turning it back over to them. I would also write a letter to the Scottsdale address.
