Maison Pierre Lafitte

Maison Pierre Lafitte

Aug 29, 2007

My family and I are thinking about booking at the Maison Pierre Lafitte through a military timeshare agency. We are looking at the first week in October. Does anyone have any good or bad recommendations?

Thanks!

I am booked there Oct 5 for a week - I called the place and comfirmed with them and they said the lobby is open during the day hours and is not a functioning lobby and the elevator is out. I think it is important to help them so I went ahead and made the extra vacation.

My family are planning on going to this resort in December 2008, has anyone stayed there lately? I understand that it was damaged from KATRINA but I thought by now the repairs would be complete kathy

Kathy - I enjoyed my stay, however I am very easy to please and understood that the facility would have the lobby gutted. There was no staff at night, however I had an access code and could come and go. It was fine for just me and the one friend that joined me. I had a small room that is very historic but as my friend who is in real estate noticed the remodeling was very nice with nice bathrooms. Just realize that it is small. It is convenient to walking to all the main attractions, burbon street, just adjacent to the Ritz and across from a macdonalds and an atm. The area can be sketchy, however I was fine walking to and from the casino alone into the wee hours and bourbon street and I am young at heart but over 50. I would definitely stay there again. I did not need a car and could walk everywhere. The airport shuttle is able to find University Place where it is located. If I had 4 people I would look for something larger, however for 2 it is fine or if kids and their parents it works. I had a loft and it has that old historic winding narrow rail staircase to the loft that is common in the historic places.
