Copper Tree hotel shut down for owner reservations

Sep 19, 2008

For those of us that have used the Copper Tree hotel portion of French Quarter for an extra night before/after our timeshare stay, it's been closed by the developer.

The front desk explained that it will be going through extensive renovations and made to look more like the existing timeshare units.

Considering how the developer prefers to build more units for sale rather than build the promised amenities, my bet is the hotel becomes more timeshare units and this is just a lost benefit that was used when selling timeshares.

When we were there this past July there had been no activity on the welcome center destroyed by the fire. They were coming up on 2 years since the fire at that time with nothing being done. It makes one wonder what happened to that insurance money that should have been paid out when the building was destroyed. It certainly didn't go to rebuild the welcome center to benefit owners and it's become quite the eyesore when approaching the resort from it's front enterance.
