Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Renting Sunday to Sunday

Dec 03, 2017

I was able to buy plane tickets for a time period of Sunday to Sunday at a more reasonable rate then I was finding for a Saturday-Saturday stay. What is the best way to obtain a rental for this time period? I am running into difficulty as most owners say they rent only Sat-Sat.?

Timeshare weeks are defined and determined by each individual resort and NOT by the interval owners at any given resort.

95+ percent of timeshare weeks ("points" reservations aside; an entirely separate matter) are "Saturday to Saturday". There are some (but not too many) places that have deeded "Friday to Friday" weeks. The only (deeded, non points) "Sunday to Sunday" weeks I've EVER heard of are timeshare weeks within the Hyatt system. In fact, I am renting just such a "Sunday to Sunday" week directly from a Hyatt owner for use in Florida in March, 2018.

With all due respect, it would be wiser to find and confirm a rental BEFORE buying airline tickets, rather than the other way around. It is entirely possible that you will not be able to find a "Sunday to Sunday" timeshare reservation to rent at your travel destination.

I'm rent out and a points owner @Holiday Inn Vacation Club system and Sunday to Sunday is no problem. Actually starting any day of the week , and can be longer than 7 nights or shorter stays.

Problem is that the most desirable stays to reserve is Sat to Sat. for most. I can reserve these at a 10 month window and have to guess what somebody might want so I would pick a Sat to Sat stay most always.

So hooking up with somebody that can reserve what you want well in advance is very important to get exactly what you need.

Good luck Dave

There are a LOT of timeshares that go Sunday to Sunday. I own 14 timeshare weeks, and 9 of them start on Sundays.

Hi, I'm looking into using RedWeek for the first time. I've hesitated because I can't tell if all timeshare rentals are 1 week long from Saturday to Saturday. Is this the case? We had hoped to travel for a Wed to Wed stretch.

Thanks for your insights.

If you read through this thread, you will see that the majority of timeshare weeks are Saturday to Saturday. A relatively few are Friday to Friday or Sunday to Sunday. To rent for "Wednesday to Wednesday" (no such period exists anywhere for deeded weeks), you would have to find an owner with a "points" ownership that could potentially reserve that "mid week to mid week". Spanning a weekend, it might well be expensive in "points cost" for the owner and therefore maybe quite expensive for you to rent, but it's nonetheless certainly possible. Good luck.

Thanks for the insight KC, I guess it makes sense since all timeshares are broken down into full weeks. Would be close to impossible to find a rental for less than a week also I imagine.

Appreciate your response!

You are quite welcome. Fyi, it is not true that "all timeshares are broken down into full weeks". There are points contracts which are strictly points, with no associated "full week" at all. Wyndham, for just one example, has many such contracts. While it is entirely possible to rent a partial week from an owner who has such a "strictly points" contract, the difficulty from your perspective as a potential renter is in finding such a person, as very few will ever advertise "partial weeks". You might want to check out the Timeshare Users Group site, which has a rental request forum as well as a Wyndham-specific forum. Over there you could post a request with specific dates and location preference that some "points contract" holder might be able and willing to accomodate. Good luck!

P.S. I don't know where you want to travel, but I can tell you that Wyndham has only one property in the entire SW Florida area. It's a relatively new property in Clearwater Beach. I've never never seen it; I am not involved in any way with Wyndham. Before that property was built and opened a few years ago, Wyndham literally had nothing to offer in SW Florida in the way of timeshares. Anyway, check out TUG (Timeshare Users Group). There is a wealth of information and experience to be found there -- and a whole lot of knowledgeable people there who are able and willing to help you.

There are many points-based owners that are able to reserve a Wed-to-Wed stay.

Have you posted where and when to let owners know so they can DM you?
