Marriott Lock off clarification please

Feb 15, 2025

I own a one week 3 bedroom unit in Spain and I was told I could split this into two units so I could stay two weeks instead but I don't see this option anywhere on the Interval website. Should I still be able to exchange and split this unit to stay at other resorts or is it only for the home resort that this is possible? And if so, how can I get this done? Thanks!

In order to split your unit you have to do it with-in Marriott, there are two options.. Split the unit in Marriott then book at a Marriott resort for a week in each type of resultant unit (can be consecutive weeks and would require a room change) OR you can split deposit your unit into interval and then use both parts for trading, possibly getting two weeks in a same room type.

The issue is that if you DON'T deposit your week as a split option into interval then you will NOT be able to split it later.

So if you have a 2BR lock-off unit you have to deposit it into interval as a 1BR (master of a 2BR) and a Studio (lock-off of a 2BR). You would then have to trade weeks independent of each other.

The 3BR unit would probably be a 2BR (master of a 3BR) and a 1BR (lock-off or a 3BR) at least this is how it is done at the Las Vegas Grand Chateau in Las Vegas.
