Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club

All below still true. Only new issue I have currently is that it is getting harder and harder to reserve weeks we want. Tried to book Christmas week 2024 and was a disaster! Had to book only concurrent weeks available prior to Christmas. Can't use as granddaughter still in school on dates could get. Called Marriott at start of business but on hold for 30 minutes and was too late to get what we wanted.

One of the original pre-construction owners in 2003 and with exception of 2013 when a family emergency arose and COVID restrictions 2020-2021, have been every year since. Daughter married on Kaua'i in 2011 and some relatives and guests stayed elsewhere and commented they wished they had been able to book their stay at Waiohai.

Upgrades and complete makeover of interiors, furniture etc. are generally done on a 5-year rotation and really first class. Sure local five star hotels may have more stunning amenities but then it's only a hotel room. All the villas have capacity of up to 8 people, have a full kitchen. We rarely eat out during our stay except for when on the road exploring favorite locations North, South, East and West of the island.

Safeway near Puhi and Costco are convenient although Sueoka's in Koloa is our go to for some local items. Loco Moco plates and bowls at take out section of market always my first stop on way to Waiohai.

Staff is always courteous and makes you feel a part of Ohana (family). I've seen complaints about renters not getting same preference as owners but guests of ours in another Villa came earlier than we did and got same considerations for villa preference. They actually got location better that we did. My Granddaughter is especially pleased that Ms. Delia remembers her from the previous years.

Last visit 2022 and was put way in back of property but they were able to transfer to a better location the next day. My only gripe is that despite have been an owner since 2003 the Destination Club members arriving at mid week etc. sometimes get the best locations.

This is a family resort on a quiet island with happy people and the true Hawaiian experience. If you like noise/night life go to Maui, if miss freeways/high rises/crowds go to Oahu, Big Island (Hawaii) OK for visiting volcanoes once. Been to all of the listed islands and have their own charms and interests but I'll take Kaua'i and Waiohai every time.

We have been to Hawaii 8 times and Kauai is our favorite island. Poipu is our favorite beach and Marriott’s Waiohai is set on the most beautiful section of the beach. The resort is close to great shopping and restaurants. The Beach House, at sunset, is our favorite. For an inexpensive meal, go across the street and get a Puka Dog! You will love this resort, the staff and the location.

This is our happy place! Fantastic experience that is always a highlight for us. The natural beauty is perfect, of course, but the Waiohai staff's professionalism and attention to detail enhance it perfectly. The villa's practical and roomy layout feels like home to us and in a decade of visiting the Waiohai Beach Club, we have never stayed in a bad location.

If you rent an ocean view villa on RedWeek, YOU WILL NOT GET AN OCEAN VIEW. This resort is mostly owner occupied, and owners get priority. Guests of owners get the same priority as people who book through Marriott or Expedia.

I was considering purchasing a resale ocean view unit, but given that I would likely not be able to use it every year and would have to rent it out, I'm not comfortable committing what is basically fraud.

To top it all off, one of the units in my building had a leak in the ceiling, there was a sewage leak in building 2, and while we were out on an excursion, the sinks in the kitchen and master bathroom mysteriously filled up with wastewater. The staff was quick to fix the problem, but it was gross, and obviously wastewater from another unit.

I went from considering a resale purchase to firmly deciding that I will never visit Waiohai Beach Club again.

Family friendly atmosphere with great amenities and amazing snorkel right in front of the resort. Easy walks to restaurants, shops and market.

I purchased this Ocean View week pre-construction in 2002 because I knew that the Waiohai beach is the BEST beach for swimming and snorkeling on Kauai. The resort is spectacular, with its beautiful setting next to the breaking waves, its gorgeous swimming pools, its ocean front Honu Bar with wonderful mai-tais, pulled pork nachos and entertainment. The Waiohai's lava rock swimming pool next to the crashing waves is nothing short of fabulous. The villa itself is beautifully appointed, spacious and comes with a stackable washer and dryer and a fully equipped kitchen--so no need to go out to dinner unless you want to. It has been my family's favorite vacation spot each and every year for the past 22 years.

This is a flagship resort on Kuaia, and for the Marriott brand. First class service, well maintained, THE best location on the island, and walking distance from all you will need or want, although a car is recommended for anywhere you stay on the island. This is a very family friendly resort with multiple pools and large beachfront, in room laundry, full kitchen!
