Renting Your Timeshare FAQ

I'm new to RedWeek, how do I rent my timeshare?

RedWeek is the largest online marketplace for "by-owner" timeshare rentals and resales. Owners have two choices for renting — they can do it themselves (DIY) or they can request help from RedWeek's full-service team (full-service).

With DIY, traditionally the owner and renter/buyer negotiate directly and handle their own agreements and payment arrangements. Owners can now use RedWeek's online booking system - allowing the renter to pay online via credit card and digitally sign an online agreement. As the owner, you just need to accept an offer when it comes in, and change the guest name on your reservation.

Is there a commission?

If you choose to use our full-service rental option, there is a fee of $99 when rented. If you use the DIY option, you only pay the upfront advertising fees.

How do I take payment from my renter?

With the basic DIY timeshare rental option, you will arrange payment options with the renter: check, PayPal, Venmo, etc. Check our Payment Method Comparison chart for some options.

If you choose an option that uses RedWeek's online booking system - such as our full-service option - RedWeek takes the renter's credit card payment and holds the funds until just after check-in, when they are disbursed to you. This helps both parties: you don't need to deal with collecting payments, and the renter knows they're protected if they arrive and the unit isn't available.

How should I price my timeshare for rent?

The pricing of your timeshare rental should be largely based on supply and demand. Check out your resort's page on RedWeek.com to see what other owners are charging, and use our What's My Timeshare Worth valuation tool to see historical rental rates by week and unit size. If you are in a rush to rent, pricing lower than other weeks is the best way to get a quick response. No matter what price you choose, make sure you sign up to be notified as new postings are added on your resort's page. This will allow you to keep track of your competition and tweak your pricing (for no extra charge) as you go.

Do I need a rental contract?

With the basic DIY rental option, a contract is not required, but is highly recommended. Your renter is not likely to feel comfortable sending payment without one.

With rentals using RedWeek's online booking system - such as full-service - we build the rental agreement for you, so it's completely painless. Your renter will agree to the terms online with their payment before we pass to you for approval, so you will only deal with serious booking requests that have already agreed to the terms.

What if I don't have a reservation yet?

If you want to use our full-service rental option, or have us verify your week, you will need a confirmed reservation. If you prefer not to make a reservation up-front, you can post your rental using our basic DIY method — advertising the full range of possible dates, and including any details or restrictions in your Details section. Make sure the price you choose is one that you will accept for ANY dates during that period.

Can I rent out a week I got on an exchange from RCI or Interval International?

No, both companies prohibit this practice. Next time, post your timeshare for rent instead of giving it to RCI or Interval International.

Rent your timeshare points/credits

Points can be rented on RedWeek only in these ways:

1) Use your points to reserve a specific week, then post that week for rent on the resort's page.

2) Add a rental posting to one (or more) relevant resort page(s) showing the full range of dates you may be able to book, based on availability.

Do not add a SALES posting for points unless you intend to sell your entire points ownership.

An active RedWeek Membership ($18.99) is required for the purchase of all postings
1 Due to processing time required, postings are removed 10 days prior to check-in
