I went here with my kids. The only good thing that I can say is that I am now home. It was extremely expensive... a plastic shovel and pail were $24 ( I am not joking I could have bought it anywhere else for $1.99) a personal size pizza, like pizza hut is $16, the pool closes at 5 for the day, everyday for a second rate hula show~ its supposed to be a cultural thing but I really think they are trying to round everybody up to get to their overpriced restaurants. The super pool is just a dirty old pool with nothing special, you have to que up in the morning about 30 minutes before the pool opens to get a lounge. There is no kids program. If you want to do a hotel activity beware that they only allow 20 for lei making and only do it once a week~ yep, it' hard to get in. This place is not what Hawaii is all about, this is like Manhattan

Lagoon Tower & Kalia Tower are two very lovely & beautifully decorated high rise towers within the Hilton Hawaiian Village resort complex, located at the western end of Waikiki area. Walking proximity to all shopping, dining, shows, and the widest stretch of beach on Waikiki right outside your door. (Beware: for those who must have a balcony, the studio size units do not have them, except for the topmost floor. All other size units have balconies.)

WHEN THE CURRENT NEW TOWER CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETED--another timeshare tower option--this property will give you a Waikiki dream vacation! Until then, just be advised.

We vacationed in Hawaii last June. The location of the HGVC is excellent...out the back door and onto the beach. It is conveniently located within a short walk to restaurants, shops, nightclubs, etc. The on-premise convenience store/deli is very well stocked. I highly recommend this establishment for the honeymoon couple or family vacation!

I own two weeks in the Lagoon Tower and bought two more in Jan '07 in the yet to be constructed Grand Waikikian. Obviously I love the place, but I am not blinded by that love, which is why I didn't give 5 stars.

Pluses: Location, location, location. We have stayed everywhere in the Hawaiian islands, usually at 5-star hotels, and Waikiki is by far the best experience of them all. Of course, you have to love cities to love Waikiki. There's amazing shopping and restaurants right next to the pounding surf. Quite honestly, the desert island experience gets old really quickly--in about 3 days. That's when the city really shows off its advantages. The Hilton hotel chain is not great, but the Lagoon Tower and Kalia tower are exceptionally well located and well maintained. Note to late sleepers: If you go anywhere "remote," the island birds will wake you at 5am if you are near any trees. No such problems in the high rises at HHV!

The properties are also exceptionally well maintained. Soft remodels are done, and property upkeep is constant. The grounds are exceptional. Just wish the housekeeping was of the same quality (see notes below).

Minuses: Expensive food and drinks. BUT, if you're scared by the prices in Waikiki, just head down to Ala Moana Mall, which has the most amazing food court. The mall is just a 10 minute walk from HHV.

Inconsistent Housekeeping: Hilton is not a 5 star hotel chain, and it shows in their housekeeping. Couches, chairs, and occasional tables are not moved during vaccuming, and you'll be lucky if tabletops and bathroom floors are thoroughly wiped off. On the other hand, the staff is generous with providing soaps, shampoos, and towels.

Ridiculously Expensive Daily Parking Rate: $20 for self park; $25 for valet. If you don't plan to explore the island, save yourself the cost and taxi to and from the airport. The resort has everything you need. However, if you want to see the surf on the North Shore and snorkel in Hanauma Bay, you're going to have to take it hard on the chin.

I would NOT recommend staying at this time share unit. I feel very mislead by the person who sold it to me. The construction was not disclosed to me, the Lagoon access and the Lagoon Tower pool are completely shut down, which was NOT disclosed to me. There are not balcony's on the rooms and there isn't maid service, this was NOT disclosed to me. The walls of the rooms are paper thin; I could hear casual conversation from the room next door, which was right next to the elevator.

They were not at all interested in making our stay any more comfortable than it was. I went and explained the room was NOT at all what I expected and they told me “sorry”. You get a room and that's it. Not a good view, not the beach access you would normally get with the Lagoon Tower or the Lagoon Tower pool.

EVERYTHING on the property is very expensive. The cheapest bottle of water I could find was $3.00 and it was a small size. The food at the Rainbow restaurant was over priced and very poor quality. The brunch was over $50.00 for 2 people. You can get a better brunch at Duke’s for $14.95.

The "super pool" is always crowded and the chairs are literally right next to each other you can not even walk between them, the are pressed up against one another. The pool service was terrible too, we asked for a drink, the girl told us she would come back for our order and we ended up getting it ourselves and she never did come back or to the other people around us waiting to order as well.

The beach in this area is very rough, filled with large pieces of coral that make is difficult to walk in the water or the beach.

The good thing about this place was the hospitality suite in the main hotel, which will make you sick because it's fabulous and your room is not. They also have beautiful gardens and some neat wild life.

CHECK OUT time is 10am, they DO NOT do late check outs.

Shame on me for not asking more questions. More shame on the man who sold this to me and this website for NOT advertising the property in its CURRENT state.

I stayed in a 1 Bedroom in the Kalila Tower 14th floor Mountain View the first week in October 2006. The location is incredible, you are no more than a pleasant 15 minute walk from the heart of Waikiki or Ala Moana Shopping Center in the other direction. All the trollies stop here if you prefer to ride ($2 fare each way). The grounds are beautifully maintained. One thing I love about HGVC is that they don't try and nickle and dime you. Except for parking ($16/day, which I didn't need) most everything is included, even high speed internet by WiFi or Ethernet connection. I believe they told me the workout room was complimentary, but I got enough exercise walking everywhere so I didn't use it. The apartment was nicely furnished, and everything looked new and clean. There was a balcony off the bedroom and another off the living room. The bed was the most comfortable of any I have ever experienced. Anything you might need to cook with was provided in the compact but effecient kitchen. (You will need to supply salt and pepper though) There are two separate A/C thermostat controls that keep the apartment as cool as 69 degrees. The only things I would have added are ceiling fans and a jacuzzi tub, otherwise this place is absolute perfection. Every one of the staff I came in contact with was helpfull and pleasant. I've stayed at Fairfied, Hyatt, Embassy and other high end RCI Gold Crown timeshares, but HGVC is the best in my opinion. I took their sales tour and considered it low pressure compared to others. I will probably buy in at some point, but I'm not quite ready yet. I saw an ocean view apartment on the tour, but I really like the mountain view better, especially the lights of Waikiki at night. There is a great beach on the grounds as well as a large landscaped pool. There's an ABC convenience store on the property with prices the same as anywhere else in Waikiki. I really enjoyed my stay, I will definintely be back.

We own a timeshare at this resort and it's the best thing we've ever done for ourselves. It is heaven on earth! Whatever you want or need it's at your fingertips and the staff on hand couldn't be better. You are within a short distance of the beaches, shopping, entertainment, whatever you feel like doing. The units are spacious, classy, quiet and impressive. It pleases not only myself and my husband, but our teenagers as well. I would rate this resort a 10 out of 10!

Stayed at this resort from Dec 21 to Jan 7,2006 in a two bedroom oceanfront villa. My wife and I stayed in the villa and our adult children stayed in the adjacent Hilton Hotel. The villa served as an excellent central meeting place for our family of six. We had a gorgeous 180 degrees view of the ocean, the beautiful sunsets, and the city lights. On Fridays at 7:30PM the Hotel has an excellent first class fireworks show on the beach, which we watched from our villa lanai. We had a wonderful time. Washer and Dryer on each floor. King size bed in master, and twin beds in the other. The unit was nicely furnished and clean. Elevators can be crowded during the hoidays but that was expected. Location is perfect, on the beach, and there is a trolley stop for downtown transportation and shopping trips, right on the property. I would recommend this property for families young and old.

This is a great resort, but very removed from all the cool shops and shopping of Waikiki. Its too long of a walk, but you can take the city bus. Check out some of the other beaches in Waikiki, in front of the Sheraton Moana. Great sailboat rides for 10$, and 2$ Maitai's. There is so much more to Waikiki that you should really explore outside of this resort.

My family just returned from HGVC-Kalia Tower. The unit we were in was a 1 BR oceanview, 12th floor. The unit was very nicely furnished: the kitchen was a little smallish: with an apartment sized refrigerator. There was a full sized stove, dishwasher and microwave. Strangely, the freezer didn't have any icemaker or icecube trays. This is really only a minor inconvenience, since there is an icemaker on the floor. It was nice having daily maid service: I do not know if that is standard on exchanges: we visited the location on an owner referral. All in all, the unit was very nice and we enjoyed our stay.

Having said that, here are some negatives that should be considered. Parking is $13 per day and is in a parking garage: not terribly convenient: but it's a metro area, so not too unusual.

The use of the workout area is also an extra charge. If you are spending $250/night+, the workout area ought to be free--I think.

The pool for the Kalia Tower is small and closes at 8:00--very early and not convenient, considering most people sightsee or hit the beach during the day. There are also only a limited number of chairs available and people tend to "reserve" them early in the day(can you say 7:00AM?) with a towel. I see this as rude and, frankly selfish, since most people don't show up until much later in the day. The staff allows this practice at both this pool and the "super" pool.

The "super pool", frankly, isn't. (it closes at 6:00 for a Hawaiian show)It is also slightly on the small side for the size of the complex, which encompasses 5 tower hotels.

I find the grounds too busy to be relaxing-- traffic goes through much of the grounds to get from tower to tower. It is definitely a big city hotel and not relaxing in my opinion. I also don't see the hotel as being within walking distance of the main shopping area for most people.

I did not find the staff friendly or helpful in any way. I tried to get a dryer fixed on our floor for over a week--no luck. There are only 2 washers and dryers per floor, so don't plan on having one in the unit.

I had a difficult time trying to get the lay of the property. I found out on the 4th day that there is a tour of the property that you can take to let someone show you around--it wasn't mentioned at check-in. (It also wasn't included in the timeshare presentation that is pushed fairly hard.) Trying to find out how to get downtown was a trick as well-- it was as if they did not want you to leave the site.(I suspect this is the case) You do not have to leave if you don't want to. There is an ABC store, gift shops, and several restaurants onsite: most fairly high priced so not particularly appealing to a family, and several requiring dress that was classified as resort wear--no shorts allowed. To many people this is not a problem, but you should be aware that it could be an issue if your suitcase only sports shorts and a bathing suit!

Parking in the downtown area is ridiculous, $2 for 20 minutes, with a $25 maximum. You can take the city bus for $2 each way per person. If you want to eat/shop in the main area of Waikiki, I recommend this. There is also a trolley that runs along Ala Moana for the same fee. Don't use the regular trolley, ask for the pink line. The regular trolley is $25/day per person!!

Stayed in the Rainbow Tower corner room as a hotel guest in 2004. It was great. Expensive but worth it. We were told by some friends we wouldn't need a car, but we had family in Pearl Harbor and got one after a few days. I would definately reccommend a car if you want to go to Haunama Bay(highly reccommended, but be careful when tide is going out) Nice beach at the Hilton, calm and not crowded. North Shore is awesome, especially in the winter when the surfing competition is going on. Waves are impressive. Hawaii was dubbed the "Island of Pay Pay" by my husband. We went inland towards the North Shore and a $3 bottle of water at the hotel was .89c in the little town. Lots to see once you leave the Waikikik area. The island is scenic to say the least and the waterfalls in Waimae are great. We are going back soon and taking the kids.
