We have been staying at The Whaler for vacation for 7 years. We love everything about it. Unit 1259 has one of the best views in the resort. You do not get this kind of view for this price at other large resorts. The staff is EXCELLENT and attentive immediately to take care of every need. The property is taken care of impeccably. We love unit #1259 - clean, spacious, comfortable bed, it has everything we could want or need.

I am an owner and so may be a bit biased--but I agree with the comments from previous renters that are posted here. We have enjoyed the Whaler for years, first as renters and now as time interval owners. Having stayed at many other Maui resorts, we believe the Whaler is positioned in one of the best locations on Maui for enjoying beach-side vacations. It is centrally located on Kaanapali Beach, one of the best in North America, with the beautiful West Maui mountains and Kaanapali Golf course on one side and the ocean on the other. Only 48 apartments out of 359 apartments are time interval. While the time interval apartments have been significantly upgraded, and so have many fully owned apartments, a small number have not---so you might want to double check when renting. The time interval apartments are well equipped, well furnished, and well maintained. There are washer/dryers in each time interval unit except the studios. Studios can use complimentary guest laundries located on each floor. All Whaler apartments are spacious and have large lanais. Most have spectacular views,--even garden view apartments have some views of the ocean and the mountains. The property is beautifully maintained. There is an underground garage with shopping carts so you can unload your groceries and take them up the elevators to your apartment. Highlights for us include being able to walk down the hall to stairs or elevator and right out to the beach, pool and hot tub, and to BBQ by the beach at sunset. There are complimentary beach towels and beach chairs by the pool. We also enjoy the beautifully landscaped courtyard with waterfall and bridge over the koi pond. There is a beach walk out front that goes several miles either way to take you to nearby shopping, restaurants, bars & resorts, There is also a complimentary trolley that you can take to get to nearby Kaanapali resorts. The Whaler charges a $25/day amenities which is well worth it for all the amenities provided.

We stayed in 469 STUDIO for a week at the end of January 2019. It was a timeshare unit, beautifully updated and decorated. Murphy King bed but very comfortable. For 2 people was more than enough. We didn’t cook but kitchen was nice. Unit is on 4th floor and when u r on a balcony you r looking on Hula grill restaurant and on the right u can see ocean. Unit has a small closed and there were beach chairs, umbrella, we bought 2 boards in Costco and left them for other renters. Location can’t get better. I did more shopping than I should since it was right on Whalers plaza. ABC was few minutes walk for all the snacks and drinks. You don’t get housekeeping in the middle of the week. Also since it’s not the Whaler’s unit but timeshare, u cannot switch to better ocean view unit. We loved our unit And it was way better than unit 365 that we stayed in before moving to 469 and also way more affordable than 365 from VRBO. Timeshare management was very accommodating and let us move from one unit to another very easily and in the morning right after we checked out from one. We rented 469 on Redweek and everything was great. Our check out bill for unit 469 was $140 ($20 for each night)plus little tax Would definitely comeback and stay in the same unit! We tried all restaurants on the plaza and Monkeypodd liked the most( tried them during happy hours and then came other days) The lobby is so beautiful with a good cold tea through the day. The weather was cold and rainy but the rest was perfect

The remodeling is complete inside and out. The units have been completely remodeled with new bathrooms and kitchens, which are very well stocked. Our unit has beach chairs and mats. The beach in front of the Whaler is the best and SO close.

There is a lot written about The Whaler probably because it has been around for quite awhile. We have stayed at Kaanapali many times, but never here. Much to our surprise, it turned up as an Exchange under II, and we snapped it up.

The property is under renovation, so there is a little noise but no inconvenience. Our unit is on the ground floor, and we love it because we can walk out the patio door to the grounds. The interior of the unit has been refurbished with new appliances, granite counter-tops, and an HD flat-screen TV with cable and Tivo. It is well stocked with brand new pots and pans, silverware, and cookware.

You cannot beat the location on Kaanapali beach. There is ample underground parking with large spaces. The only thing we wished that our unit had is a washer-dryer, but there is a coin-op unit right down the hall.

Absolutely perfect in every way. Immaculate grounds, great housekeeping, sufficient underground parking, perfect location adjacent to Whaler's Village, lovely wide beach, FULL kitchen and TWO bathrooms with 1 bedroom (spacious throughout), wonderful views, lovely balconies and furnishings. I only wish I'd made reservations for this Christmas because I've thus far been unable to find anything at the Whaler and hate to consider anywhere else. TSO from MO

We stayed a week here in November 2003. Our 1 BR/2BA unit in the north tower on the 8th floor was very clean, quiet, and large. The Lani was especially huge and had a great view up to Black Rock. Even at Thanksgiving time the beach was not overly busy, but we spent most of our time at other beaches.

Parking was easy in the underground facility and the shopping carts to move stuff up to the room were very handy. Location of buildings was good -- close to mall next door, good food nearby, nice beach right out front, etc. Having the dive shop literally out the back door was great for rentals.

Marble bath and wood floor more than a bit dated, but very functional. Overall, if we could find a killer deal to stay here again, we would do it in a heartbeat. If you're paying as much as a newer building, just be sure this is the place for you.

The Whaler Resort is located at the north end of Kaanapali Beach facing the ocean with a view of Molokai and Lanai. The rooms are extremely spacious and with all amenities including a full kitchen, large bathrooms, attractive furnishings, spectacular views and large wrap around balconies. It has a lovely swimming pool beside the beach, a jacuzzi and two lighted modern tennis courts.

It is highly favoured by travellers to Maui and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

The staff at the Whaler treats their guests like they are family. Pickle-ball and tennis equipment is available at the front desk for no charge. Love being able to walk to Black Rock to snorkel.

We've been renting here for 26 years and it is getting very tired. The new manegment is interested in only the OWNERS and themselves!! The rates for rooms, parking and check-in( $50.) is outrageous for a tired, old condo. It's location is the only saving grace. We were faxing some business papers and the rates at the hotel were exorbitant but if we went to the local UPS store it was very reasonable. Bye, Bye, Whaler!!!!!
