Four major league teams have there spring training camps within easy driving distance. Less than half hour. Large marina (Sail Fish Marina) with excellent restaurant, charter fishing and water taxi within walking distance. Other eatery's, shops, etc, at Ocean Mall just yards from resort. Enjoy!

Read more »If your looking for a converted hotel to a timeshare with small units where you can hear everything in the next unit and want to be hounded by RCI sales people trying to sell you points, this is the place. Nice beach, but not a great location as you need to drive to almost everything. Just spent a week there and would never go back. Staff is fake friendly as they put on a high pressure sales pitch until you choose not to buy then watch out. What was very disturbing was the fact that the sales people were not even selling time shares at this resort but some mega timeshare trac up near Orlando. The entrance off the main road to the resort is not upscale by any means and do not take a stroll in the adjacent Riveria Beach access in the early morning or late evening as the undesirables are out looking for an easy mark. Also watch out for bill padding, we rented beach chairs for 1 day and got charged for a week. If you ever wondered why timeshares have a bad reputation you don't have to look beyond this place. Find somewhere else to vacation.

Read more »Let's get some things straight. An earlier non-owner from the other coast did not get the choice room because those rooms belong to the owners. She is NOT an owner. We go every year and get a wonderful room overlooking the pools and ocean on the top floor. Beach chairs are rented on the beach from a company not owned by the resort and can be expensive, but they are always honest with us--though there is some negotiating to be done to get the best price. Safety is never a question. There is a police car parked in front of the resort all night, and the police station is a half block away. The neighborhood on the island is very high class. It is lovely, quiet and safe. I have gone there over 11 years and never heard of any problems, nor have I ever had any. Unfortunately there are time share salemen about, and frankly they are a plague wherever they are still selling time shares. As for places to eat, there is a nice restaurant on premises, another called Johnny Longboat's a three minute walk to the corner and yet another just down the road near the bridge. It is true in much of Florida that if you want a more varied venue, you will need to drive or take a taxi to enjoy the best restaurants--even in Orlando. Don't worry about having a good time at Palm Beach Shores. Unless you have been sucking lemons on Marco Island you are almost certain to have a great time.

Read more »We were told before we went that there isn't a bad view from any room - bull - we were put on 5th floor overlooking roof and parking lot. when we found this out I complained to front desk and asked to be moved to ocean view - was told that those rooms were only for owners and renters. Well i have news for you-we are owners of a 5 star on marco island and traded it for THIS? In run down area - wouldn't go far at night . On 5th day went to get our car and found that it was broken into.Nothing of any value taken but where are security cameras etc . At 11pm that night I got a call from the security man who just came onto duty who asked if I had a set of binoculars in our car and was told that he had stopped a guy a couple days before on his way in to work ( said he didnt look to be from the hotel) He found that he was homeless and had his wallet and my binoculars .WOW. And I saw quite a few of that type while looking over our great parking lot view. To top that off, my son's family who went with us found that their new car had been dented severely in the parking lot while we were talking with police about our breakin. We decided that nite to leave early on thurs and get back to our abodes on the west side of Florida. Also , we were bombarded with timeshare sales pitches . Rooms are clean and restaurant waitresses are very nice but thats the best that can be said for this place.

Read more »we just spent a week here (Oct 16-23,2010) in unit 411 and loved it!! From what we can tell there are only a few 2BR units per floor but if 1BR will do, it is great. Large bedroom with very large bathroom attached and towel exchange daily (they even come to you!). Kitchen is small with a apt size fridge and d/w, two burner stovetop but no oven. But...I did learn how to make pizza in the microwave/convection oven!
We also had trouble with the internet...it is ethernet cable not wireless, and had to call outside service tech support. Ultimately it was a bad modem which the resort exchanged in a very pleasant manner and the rest of the time the internet ran just fine.
Our unit faced the north outside viewing of the building. we overlooked a park and could easily see the ocean even from our chairs. not a problem at all.
Only one w/d on the entire floor which is not enough if you are needing to do laundry with kids along, but for the two of us i picked a wed eve and it was no problem.
the onsite restaurant had evening specials. we splurged on the 1.5 lb lobster for $19.95 with salad and baked potato!
We did not rent the full set of beach chairs although the first day we were told we have to. The rate was $30/day or $150/wk which we talked down to $100/wk. we offered to rent an umbrella for $10/day ($50/wk) if we could use our own chairs. then we went to Wings across the street and bought two fold up ones for $15 each. later in the week we saw lots of people of with their own chairs as well. Even if that was true for the private beach, the public one is literally steps away. But, we enjoyed our umbrella daily and I enjoy moving my chair to the waters edge so we had a great compromise.
There are daily activities as well onsite. the pool is adequate and very popular. I was surpised how many people were out using the pool chairs by 10am but I am a beach person so not a problem for me. you would have to get there early to get a chair by the pool even though there seems to be plenty. Nice hot tub and kiddie pool as well.
We hope to return.

Read more »We spent 4th of July week at this resort. The resort occupies an outstanding (unguarded) beach location on Singer Island, which also has good public beaches with lifeguards (Riviera Beach Municipal Beach, Ocean Reef Park , and John D. MacArthur Beach State Park). It was turtle nesting season and every day we saw new tracks -- both new nests and "false crawls" (a "false crawl" is when a turtle comes out of the water and returns without nesting -- often scared away by humans looking for them with flashlights -- a no-no for anyone who cares about turtles).
The surf was quite strong the first half of the week we were there, with 2 to 4 foot waves. Warning flags flew from the lifeguard towers on the public beach next door (Riviera Beach Municipal Beach), as riptides are a risk when the waves are large. Small children would have required close supervision and all swimmers should know how to react if caught in a riptide. Ask the lifeguards if you don't know. We swam at the public beach most of the time to take advantage of the lifeguards. By the end of the week, the ocean winds had died down and the surf became much less wild. My family (kids 13 and 11) loved the big surf. The water gets deep pretty quickly, with a drop off just a few feet from shore.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom lockout unit with a direct oceanfront side and an ocean view side. The layout was excellent.
The oceanfront side had a king bedroom, spacious bathroom, decent side kitchenette, living room with sofabed, and balcony. The kitchenette had a small full size refrigerator, two burner cooktop (not a full range), combination microwave and oven, and small dishwasher. We found the appliances adequate, but there was not enough cutlery or dishes (although we had pretty much everything on the unit inventory), so we ran the dishwasher frequently. The no stick fry pan was in rough shape, probably because they only had metal utensils to use with it. There were no BBQ facilities and only two pairs of pay laundry machines per floor (bring lots of quarters and a healthy dose of patience for your laundry).
The ocean view side of the lockout had a king bedroom and a full bath. It had a somewhat smaller kitchenette with a mini (half size) refrigerator, sink, and combination microwave and oven.
The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms quite spacious. The housekeeping staff removed the trash and did a towel exchange every day. The unit had a very spacious safe, for which guests are charged $1 per day. Parking is $6 per day and includes complimentary valet parking, but tips are no doubt expected. I only used valet parking once when no self parking was available and tipped $1 to park and later get my car. About half the parking lot is reserved for the valet parking, so there are times when you might have no choice but to use it (it only happened the one time for us).
In summary, this was an excellent timeshare exchange and we would not hesitate to return or recommend it. There were however, a few concerns.
The unit and furnishings show significant wear. Some tiles were damaged, the windows quite dirty (one oceanfront window was almost opaque with dirt), the patio and patio furnishings dirty, and furniture quite chipped. Neither patio door could be fully secured. The locks would open with a little jiggling, which was a concern as only one had a security bar -- and that would not align with the door. The patio door hardware was significantly corroded, which may have contributed to the faulty locks. I expressed these security concerns at checkout (I took my chances that no one would Spider-man to my third floor balcony during my visit).
During our visit, we called maintenance for a toaster, the refrigerator, and the internet connection. The toaster was replaced quickly with a working model. A puddle continually formed in front of the refrigerator and after two service calls, the problem remained unfixed and we stopped asking. The maintenance guy would not help us with the snail slow internet connection at all, referring us instead to the 1-800 number on the network jack to call the internet provider for technical support ourselves. The internet provider had us run a bandwidth test which revealed that the resort ranked a 0.5 out of 5.0 for connection speed, which he said was typical for that facility. It was the worst hotel internet connection I have ever seen in terms of performance.
We agree with other reviews of the resort that the pool area is too small for such a large resort. It was always crowded. Beware of the mandatory 18% gratuity added by the restaurant and bar. I did not notice this immediately and added 15% on top of my first couple of bills. The waiting staff had a good night on me! I don't like mandatory gratuities as they take away the incentive for good service.
Some reviews said guests were not allowed to set up their own chairs or umbrellas on the beach, but instead had to pay $30/day for one of the beach company's setups. That does not seem to be the case anymore. A lot of people, including us, used their own chairs and umbrellas on the resort beach without any hassle of any kind.
The resort indicated they wanted you to raise any concerns with them that might cause you to rate them at less than 5 out of 5. I'm sorry, but as excellent as the location and unit layout is, the state of the units in terms of wear preclude any such rating. We loved our stay and would return, but have trouble rating them higher than a 3 for cleanliness, unit condition, and service (witness the do-it-yourself internet service that only confirmed the inadequacy of the service) and a 4 for amenities and location -- 3.5 rating overall.

Read more »Just back from vacation, February 14, 2010. This place is wonderful, situated on Singer Island, north of Palm Beach. When you arrive you can either park your car or have valet service. I opted for valet service. Why not i'm on vacation. Check in was a breeze, Mr. Rolfe, Manager, greeted us and welcomed us the PBSR. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the pool... what a view. In the afternoon, pool side they have live music. We opened our slider door and let the music fill our suite.. how wonderful. Now for the important stuff. The pool is wonderful, plenty of deck chairs, outdoor cafe, waitress's who walk the pool area, to serve your drinking or dinning needs. Pool side tiki hut that sells lotions, shirts, dresses and complementary pool towels. How great not to pack towels, the staff was great, all I did was show my room key. A couple of days we rented chaise lounges on the beach with umbrella's. The staff sets-up your equipment, good for me, not my thing. The "beach guys" were so nice and willing to help. We had a one bedroom suite and it was wonderful, huge... bathroom - shower and bathtub, kingsize bed with wonderful sheets.... how cozy. Somedays we cooked in our suite and others we went out to dinner. Wonderful restaurant across the street... Johnny Longboats...... must go for drinks or dinner. Great ambiance and beach view. Overall 5 stars...... great place.

Read more »We stayed in a one bedroom unit. It had a partial ocean view if you leaned out the sliding doors to the deck. Unfortunately, the deck was constantly covered with either pigeons or their droppings. We were right at the far back corner of the resort which is kind of in a U shape. We went to the front desk as soon as we got in and asked to be moved and were told it was not possible. (I had asked in advance to be near the front of the building near the beach.) When we could not be moved, we asked for them to come up and clean the patio. They were there in minutes and did a great job. Unfortunately, by the time we got back from the pool, the patio was covered again. We tried this a couple of times and resigned ourselves to the fact that we just were not going to be able to have our usual coffee and devotions on the patio and it was too small for dining anyway.
The building is a beautiful old facility but immaculately kept. In its day, it was probably the top of the line. By timeshare standards today, it was nice, but certainly not outstanding.
The unit was very clean, modest in size and the kitchen was a stove top, small fridge, and microwave/convection oven. More than enough, but nothing fancy. They have a chart listing all the kitchen utensils and the cost for anything that they find missing when you leave (cups, glasses, etc.). Weve seen the lists many times, but not with the $$. We checked our inventory, called the desk and reported missing items and they came and replaced all but one minor item which we once again reported.
The pool is fine, but again, nothing special just a plain old hotel style pool. They did have nice live music pretty much every day by the pool.
The staff was friendly and willing to help in any way possible. We did not partake of any activities, but did eat on the patio outside the restaurant by the pool one day and found it quite nice.
The ocean area was beautiful. Charges for chairs, umbrellas, etc.
The resort is located next to a very run down area that the sales force told us has been the subject of the town trying to get funding to renovate for years and they believe they finally have. For now, it is a mess and made my wife very uneasy to walk off property at all in one direction. Even driving through it coming in and out made you feel like you were in a bad area. There were rundown shops and restaurants that were closed down in this area and just an atmosphere that was not pleasing at all.
Overall, when we talked about this resort, we felt they did a great job of taking care of the facilities and that it was a nice resort. It just did not at all wow us. We would go back if there were no other nicer resorts, but it would not be a place we would specifically look to return to.
Funny, nothing really wrong with it other than the area next to it, but nothing all that special either.

Read more »We stayed Presidents week , February 15 to 22, 2009. We rented through Redweek and were given a 6th floor poolside room which was lovely. We loved going out on the balcony and seeing the ocean. We aren't really pool sitters but we did spend one morning on the beach. It was so much fun to roll around in the waves.
We spent two days visiting friends. We had late lunches all over the county in beautiful places. At night my husband was willing to relax in the suite while I went to the Palm Beach Kennel Club and played poker. We loved being close to the City Place area in West Palm beach and the Palm Beach Gardens area north of Singer Island, and of course, Worth Ave was fun too. We have been going to Fort Lauderdale for three years but my husband loved less traffic in this area.
We are going back next February and we have rented a two bedroom unit and our going down with relatives. Being right on the ocean provides a special vacation and the value is fabulous for the price.
It's a great place for families and Older folks. Young singles may want a little more action.

Read more »We have stayed at Palm Beach Shores three times and enjoyed our time very much. Rooms are nice. Wouldn't recommend the south side that is over the parking lot but rest is fine. My favorite things are the restaurant, pool bar and beach. We often took the short walk to the other side of the island to the restaurant, also a shop where you can buy clothes and souvenirs. Can rent fishing boats and take the water taxi to Palm Beach from here. Our last visit was in April of '08 and our first was when it was still a Radisson Resort. On the down side, parking was very difficult. Not enough spaces. There is a small store on site and a small games room.
