Reviews of Otra Vez en Santa Fe
Santa Fe, New Mexico
I didnt realize Otra Vez en Santa Fe was such a closely held secret! It has long been a favorite destination. There have been many improvements, enhancements and updates to the property since the last posted reviews. An already charming and hospitable location, updates and discoveries over the past few years have added to the ambiance. The building was originally built as the El Fidel Hotel in 1923. A recent renovation revealed an earlier foundation the windowless, one room adobe Santa Fe County Jail - that housed Billy the Kid in winter 1880-1881.
The 18 condos are on the 2nd and 3rd floors the private sun deck / patio offers lovely views. There is no longer a hot tub on the propertys patio, which has opened the deck up quite a bit for lounging, reading or grilling. The interior sauna has been transformed into a lovely library / computer room with printer. Street level retail offerings still include a beauty shop and menswear but the new jewel is the 2009 move of the iconic independent and locally-owned business Santa Fe bookstore, Collected Works (in the former Foreign Traders location.) Their coffeehouse features organic, locally-roasted coffee, plus pastries, light fare and delicious desserts delivered daily from area restaurants. Having this wonderful space accessible from the condos interior with over 30,000 book titles, newspapers and ongoing events with comfy fireside seating indoors or outside on their patio is a real plus.
Staff is very responsive fireplaces are stocked with pinon wood. The Plaza is only a few blocks away.
Exceptional! Clean, 1-bedroom fully furnished w/fireplace 2 blks from the Plaza. Parking is a potential problem (too few places, too many condos and businesses), but there was an attendant for the building next door who took care of it. No problems. Will definitely be back. What a deal! Stayed 2/24-3/3/07.
5 stars because, at $99 a night for a 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen, I couldn't have asked for anything more. There are 18 condos, all of which seem to be different sizes and with somewhat different furnishings. The interiors can be a little outdated, but everything was clean. We stayed in one of hte largest units, and it was great! I have 3 small children, so extra space is important.
Office personnel were helpful (although some of the office staff didn't seem as knowledgeable about day-to-day operations), and the daily maid service was excellent. Very nice people.
Location is excellent, just 2 blocks from the Plaza, and across the street from a coffee place and several restaurants.
The one drawback is that parking is limited. There are 12 spaces (included 1 Handicapped) for 18 condos and several businesses. We had to park in a pay lot across the street a couple of times. Inconvenient, but (again) for $99 a night, it was worth it.
This is an exceptionally convenient, comfortable and clean property. Perfect for feeling like you are in someone's well staffed home rather than in an impersonal and cookie cutter timeshare. A little old-fashioned but perfect for the Santa Fe downtown experience.
Only a couple of blocks from Santa Fe's main plaza, this small 2 story resort has very tight security. Our unit was a comfortable 1 bdrm with eat-in kitchen and living rm with fireplace. Units surround the pool area. Nothing else is here. It's clean, safe, comfortable and Santa Fe's shops & cultural activities are outside the door.
I love this resort! In addition to being an historic building, it's in a perfect location for really getting to know Santa Fe. Right outside the door there are fabulous shops, galleries and restaurants. The decor is wonderfully southwest (Santa Fe style as they say here). The daily maid service was a real plus, and the resort personnel were friendly and helpful.
