Located at the quiet (southern) end of Estero Island ( Fort Myers Beach), well away from all of the traffic, crowds and congestion at the Times Square and Pier area at the (northern) end of Fort Myers Beach. All units at Tropical Sands are identical, with 2 BR units which are unusually spacious by timeshare industry standards (about 1350 square feet). Each unit has its own screened porch / lanai. Washer and dryer inside each unit. Full kitchen, a circular glass dining table that seats 6, spacious living room with a large flat screen TV. King sized bed in master BR with it's own TV and private bathroom with walk-in shower. There is also a second bathroom located outside of the second bedroom, which has two twin beds and a small, wall-mounted flat screen TV.

WiFi is provided on site at no additional charge and each unit has its' own individual password to securely access the WiFi. Several bicycles are available on site for your use at no additional cost.

There is a deeded, right of way access path to the Gulf shoreline, directly across the street from this facility. Good sized rectangular heated pool on site at the resort, as well as a hot tub. Gas grills on the nicely landscaped ground level. Lovers Key State Park is less than a mile away to the south with nature trails, kayak rentals and a free tram out to the Gulf beach, where there are rest rooms, showers,a lunch stand and a covered gazebo with picnic tables. Lover's Key is a large and very nice Florida state park, the second highest rated state park in all of Florida, behind only John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo.

The facility is maintained by a local management company called RAL. Overall, this is a nice facility, with spacious units, located in a great, quiet location away from all the hustle and bustle around Time Square, which is about four miles away at the north end of the island. There is a Publix grocery store around mid-island and a very County park (Bowditch) at the north end of FMB, directly abutting Matanzas Pass. There is periodic, inexpensive trolley service running up and down Estero Blvd at all hours if you want to get around FMB without driving.

In summary, this is a nice place with very large 2BR units in a great, quiet location with convenient access to many various features and amenities in the immediate area, including two parks, a marina, a small plaza with numerous shops and restaurants, a Estero Bay wildlife preserve area visited by many different species of migrating birds and, of course, the beautiful Gulf beach accessed from right across the street. We returned from Fort Myers Beach in late March, 2017 and we had a great time in beautiful sunny warm weather --- while a major snowstorm struck back home. We already look forward to returning to Tropical Sands Resort again next winter.

P.S. A 2008 review below incorrectly states that "all units face the pool". Six of the (39 total) units do NOT actually face the pool .

A perfect week. The beach is larger than it's ever been, and the pool is lovely. We especially appreciated having our own washer-dryer in the unit.

All units face the pool. And since this is the quiet corner of Fort Myers, you can relax and enjoy the weather, the water and the view.

Best for families or for couples looking to unwind.

These are very large (1300 sf) 2/2 w/w/d, w/ screened lanai, clean and well equipped. The resort shows evidence of being well managed, i.e. new a/c's, new roofs, new pavers on walks and pool deck, etc. These large units w/full size w/d; and ample bbq grills around the property usually attract families. Ft. Myers Beach is a great resort island w/much to do, and fine dining nearby. I bought here site unseen thru Bluegreen and was very pleased with what I found.

I have timeshare at Tropical Sands Resort and I usually love it. After just updating the resort, I came to find it is now painted bright candy pink on the outside with an occasional panel of light blue and now looks cheap & nasty. The lovely old brown wood which runs along the ceiling and units which gave it a rustic feel, has been painted white, so now it looks very very white & light and the old homely feel it had, has gone. The lanai has new flooring and that is very nice. There seems to be less dishes & baking tins (usually the kitchen is over equiped with everything). The new Ral resort staff were very unfriendly and the family homely feel of the resort has gone. I still enjoyed my holiday but longed for the old resort as shown in the pictures.

TROPICAL SANDS RESORT in FORT MYERS BEACH FLORIDA is a resort of INTERNATIONAL DISTINCTION and very well maintained. It is a couple / family oriented resort. What a wonderful place to vacation with delicious restarants and shopping galore! Enjoy yourself as much as we do!
