Ocean Villas II

Pool and beach status?

Nov 01, 2006

Last time we were at Ocean Villas II the oceanfront pool had been destroyed by a nor'easter. This was a couple years ago. The pool at Ocean Villas was still available. The beach was being worked on, but was fairly eroded. Can anyone tell me what the current status is? We love the location of this property and have always had a great time there. -- Bonnie in WV

Hi, Cindy, We really like the location of this property and have rented there several times. You're right, the pool at Ocean Villas isn't bad at all. We've rented there several times. Merry Christmas! Bonnie

As of August 2006, the pool at Ocean Villas was no longer available for OVII guests. The resort issued passes to the local YMCA, but this really proved too inconvenient - having stayed at OVII several years in a row, we came to look forward to the pool being so close by.

It is regrettable that differences between the two HOA's led to loss of the Ocean Villas pool for OVII owners and exchangers. After the split in joint management, Ocean Villas offered to rent use of its pool to OVII as had been done for a year prior to joint managment, and OVII agreed for the initial term but then never provided an answer one way or the other as to the full season.

OVII has no place on their property where a new pool can be built.

The YMCA pool arrangement had been in the works with some OVII board members prior to the split in joint management.

Hello. Was wondering if their are any regulations related to pivate rental of a unit? We are looking at a reesale but will not be able to use it each summer.

Hi Doug,

As long as you don't have the week banked with an exchange company you can rent it out on RedWeek.com. Please see the page in the Help area concerning the steps in renting a week, http://www.redweek.com/help/rental_process/owner.

Thanks, Marty

Is the status of the pool arrangement with Ocean Villas still the same -- as in, no agreement? If there isn't an agreement on the pool, why doesn't someone update the listing for this resort on this site. It still says outdoor pool. Thanks!

I found out that the pool arrangement with Ocean Villas next door has not been renewed. The OVII units include a membership at the YMCA, which has lots of water fun and other activities, but you need to drive to get to it. There are apparently no plans to rebuild the pool. We still love the location, the ocean view from the oceanfront units can't be beat, and the units we have stayed in have been comfortable. BUT sure wish someone would update the listing for the property to remove the on-site pool reference!

We've owned at OV II for 27 years. True the pool was trashed a couple of years ago. At this time there is not much chance to put in a new pool. The only place the city of Nags Head will allow a pool, is where it was, but not much has been done, and probably won't.
