Jo-Ann,

We have been going to Newport for over 20 years now and have stayed in almost every resort there (except the Wellington). We own 3 weeks at the Onshore and absolutely love it! It has virtually been our "'summer home"! We have stayed at the Long Wharf and found the accomodations very nice but the location next to the fishing wharf is a little too close to the fisheries for our taste (too "aromatic" in the summer!) We also own a one-bedroom at the Newport Bay Club which is lovely and has a wonderful location... unfortunately, with two boys-to-men, the one-bedroom is simply too small for us. We have a lot of luck renting it out (it's usually every Labor Day weekend!) and are planning to put it up for sale. We have also stayed at the Inn on the Harbor (great views from the roof deck - rooms too tiny) and the Inn at Long Wharf (ditto). Nothing quite compares to the Onshore in our experience. Hope this is helpful.
