timeshare rental from a non-owner

I have been offered a timeshare to rent for one week in St. Maarten, but the renter is not the owner of the unit. he said he owns points in Diamond International and can secure the type of timeshare at the diamond resort i want for the week i desire. I have never rented from a non-owner and would like to know if this offer seems legitimate. If so, how can i protect myself from being scammed as i proceed with the deal (especially before i send a deposit).

Not all people own weeks at a resort .... some people own in a points system and he will secure the week that you desire with his points. There should always be a rental agreement in place stipulating the terms of the rental .... you can 'search forums' for sample rental agreements.

Not all people own weeks at a resort .... some people own in a points system and he will secure the week that you desire with his points. There should always be a rental agreement in place stipulating the terms of the rental .... you can 'search forums' for sample rental agreements.
