Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Joint owner of a timeshare seeking to sell my percentage to other owner for $1

Feb 28, 2013

I am looking not for the "if" this can be done, but the "how" this can be done. When we bought the timeshare we were 50/50 partners. My partner is willing purchase my 50% for $1. Now the question is how? Mine timeshare is at the Harborside in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Do I need to work with Starwood or can I do this without any ties to the Timeshare community?

If you own at a larger resort that has a resales dept they probably can do it for almost nothing. We sold one of our units couple years ago to another owner well up for July 4th week. The office handled it for us and no charge. The buyer just wrote us a check and ran the paper work down to Carson City to file it. Everything was completed in 24 hours. This last year we sold our odd year unit to another owner and same as year before at no cost.

Or you could go through a timeshare transfer company such as www.timesharetransfer.com or JRA services, however there will be a fee involved. My first choice would be to contact Starwood and get their opinion on the best route to take.
