having problems renting weeks in Williamsburg in Aug

Jul 30, 2013

Hi,

I am trying to rent on RedWeek two weeks in August at Kings Creek Plantation - a nice place.

Any ideas on why they aren't renting?

I've also put an ad on Craigslist pointing to my Redweek listing, but that hasn't seemed to help.

Any suggestions would be great! Brian

It's not a given that any week can be rented .... in August most kids go back to school and vacation time is over for the family .... also it looks like Williamsburg is overrun with timeshare resorts not counting other accomodations. The only thing I suggest is lowering your rental rate.

I think for the first week when kids are still off school more families are looking for 2 br's. The second week is for a time when most kids are back in school and the price is a bit high.

I think the first one will rent but you may not start getting offers until 1-1.5 weeks before check in.

Williamsburg is usually an easy exchange if you do so 3-6 months in advance in the summer, so the people who rent are usually last minute planers. There is also a lot of competition to rent weeks here so it makes it very challenging.
