Fixed week timeshare

Mar 25, 2019

My parents have a fixed timeshare that I’ve been using. Dad is deceased, mom is 90. Is it a good idea for her to transfer it to me or for her to leave it in her will to me.

As long as you realize that you will be committed to paying the maintenance fees and assessments for the rest of your life or until you can get it out of your name .

If it isn't something you want, you might want to contact the resort now and see if they will allow a deedback (if your mother isn't using it). If they say no and you don't want it, then when she passes, the executor of her estate should try again saying no one wants it, will they accept a deed back. At that point the answer is usually yes even if they wouldn't take it before.
