What a difference a year makes. My family was at the Paradisus Cancun last year and it was not the best experience. This year, however, was a day and night difference. They really stepped up their game. The main center area of Pyramid 3 had competed construction and it looked beautiful. It really did. The important part of everything was the attention to customer service. This was so much noticed compared to last year. They really improved on this and it showed from the security to the door man to the wait staff to the lobby staff. Inside, staff was on top of everything. Our room was made up daily without having to ask for it. Thinks in the room were replenished regularly. Room service, which we used frequently, was very good. Our morning server in the buffet was outstanding! His name was Guadencio. If you go there, make sure you find him. He is phenomenal!!! Personable, efficient, nice, human (meaning he would get to know you personally which is rare these days), a wonderful experience knowing about him and his family.
Other people who I passed through the lobby and hotel areas actually stopped me and remembered me from the following year, and we chatted for a while. Last year I commented on 2 people in particular. Thankfully both are still working at the Paradisus. Outside by the main pool was Yvonne who also remembered me, by name, from last year and she was her usual polite, hard-working, efficient, and ever so wonder self. She would stop by regularly to chat with us and to see if we needed anything. She was, just like the year before, the very best ever.
The other individual is Christian in Guest Services. This man is the very, very, and I mean the VERY BEST at the Paradisus. This man is so good at his job. Before I even booked the hotel this year I was reaching out to him asking questions about the amenities in the rooms, especially the shower as I had a recent hip replacement and was concerned about getting in and out of the shower. On his own time he sent me photos of the room and shower so I would know if I could easily access it. Any issues I had, which were very few, he was the one to fix things. I actually don’t have all the right words to say, but he is someone I would love to call “friend” and someone I would be honored to have as “family”. Maybe I will share a selfie I took with him.
Admittedly, however, (because nothing is perfect, except my daughter), there were a few very minor things that I have to make mention of. The wait service by the pool area seemed a bit sparse this year, by the family kiddie area. Maybe it was due to being at the kiddie area of the pool. Also, if you order room service, you will see on the menu a ½ chicken. If you enjoy a good and filling meal, order 6 or 8 of this item. It comes with a spoon full of mashed potatoes, and they are good but you just want more, and the entire ½ chicken is about the size of a chicken wing in a Pu Pu Platter. Mexican chickens must be the size of a 2 week old pigeon. Actually, I though Mexican chickens were iguanas, but that’s something different thing all together.
If you dine at the Italian Restaurant in Pyramid 3, be advised that there is no air conditioning there at all. It is extremely hot there. My daughter’s ice cream was a bowl of melted liquid before she could even eat it, that’s how hot it was there. The waiters were literally dripping sweat off the foreheads.
Before I forget, the Buffalo wings are awesome!!!! They were so good. By the pool or by room service, they were really good. Some of the best I have ever had. Burnt the heck out of my mouth. Awesome wings!
Lastly, Gabriela at the Concierge Desk was amazing in the dedication to her position and to please us. As I said last year, the people are the best ever there and the people there make the time wonderful with the beauty and amenities of the Paradisus Cancun. Go there! You will have an excellent vacation and make sure you look for the wonderful people I mentioned, and tell them Jon said “Hello and my family miss them.”
