This resort is one of the best kept secrets in the area. It is a small resort and as such you get personalized service, and a hassle free vacation. The old hotel that is mentioned in some of the older reviews is gone. We were in a 2 bedroom unit (213) and it was perfect. While it stated the view was of the pool, you can easily see the ocean and beach areas from the balcony. Also this resort has an elevator so no need to drag your luggage up and down stairs. There are plenty of places to eat that are easily within walking distance and all were very reasonably priced. Look no further than this resort should you be wanting a relaxed and enjoyable vacation that is on a beautiful beach area and kept extremely clean and neat.
This is the best deal on St. Pete's Beach. The rooms are larger and more updated than any of the nearby hotels that rent out for much more money. The removal of the old motel in early 2015, room renovations, new parking lot and pool renovations have really added to this property. We have been going to the Coral Reef for many years and enjoy it immensely. The people are great and location perfect; on the beach with many beach and off beach restaurants and bars within walking distance. While not a luxury resort its far better than most in the area.
Just was here 1st week of March. 2015. Let me start with the fact that this is probably the best value on St. Pete's Beach! The location could not be better. Walk out of your unit and you are on the beach. The soft white sand is great. We arrived in a rain storm and found the parking lot flooded (>12"deep). At check in we are told the parking lot will be commandeered by Trade Winds Resort (next door) on Monday as they bought the old boarded up hotel! We can park in the back. The old hotel will be coming down this week also (noise), and the power will be out all day Wednesday (to disconnect the old hotel), and water will be off intermittently on Tuesday. Wi-Fi went out Wednesday and didn't come back on for the rest of the week. The beautiful meandering pool is just for looks... too cold to go in and it is rarely cleaned. The smaller pool is heated to 85+ and was wonderful to go in. 3 hot tubs are a plus. ALL the people we met seemed so happy to be there for the week. Great clientele. There it is in a nut shell.
I am a long time owner at the Coral Reef and just returned from my vacation week there. First off, if you read some reviews about the old motel that is a part of the property, yes it is still there and still closed and is an eyesore, but the surrounding area, the best pool on the beach and everything else is still very nice. If you dont mind the old hotel, which really makes it a much more private place, then you will still enjoy your stay. we did. we love the coral reef and actually own three weeks there. Future plans ( nothing approved) call for the old motel to be demolished and a high rise hotel building near the beach. it may also require losing a1/3 of the large pool, but adding a zero entry end. This is and will always be the best pool on the beach hands down. All of the rooms have been updated and all of the old redwood around the pool has been replaced. Long live the coral reef. st pete beach is one of my favorite places. On the flip side i could look at the old hotel for another 20 years if we could keep the best pool in all of florida...
Stayed there in Dec., 2008. Fantastic view of sunset from the balcony. Walk off the property onto one of the best beaches we have ever seen. Wonderful pools and grounds. Truely a hidden jewel!
Don't be put off by the entry drive - the old front building is planned for removal or renovation. Recently remodeled room, very beautiful, comfortable and very well maintained. Remodelling continues on other units. Registration/office building is small modular building next to the main pool. Parking is a bit tight but acceptable.
Can walk to several good restaurants.
I am an owner and have stayed here the last four years. Great location for all activities. Either very close to pool or facing ocean. Stayed Memorial week, fireworks at several beach locations. Very large wading pool with fountains. 3 hot tubs near pool area, very relaxing. Bongos (beach bar) has great food and tropical drinks, also live entertainment nightly.
I stayed at this resort from April 1 thru April 8, 2006. I was very disapointed with the "resort". I had exchanged into it and it was not an even exchange. The rooms are smal and the floor could have used a good scrubbing. The staff there was nice and helpful, but you can see they didn't have the resources to adequately take care of the place.
The area is very nice and it is on the beach and the pool area was nice, but what they didn't tell you was that it was under construction and that it was behind a boarded up hotel that's due to be demolished. When you first pull into the parking lot all you see is a boarded up building and some confusing signs telling you where to check in. Parking is very minimal because the main lot is shared with with a bar which seems to own the majority of the parking spots. What made things worse was that the timeshares surrounded it were really nice. There are plans to fix this resort up but they are a few years down the line. I gave it 2 stars because of its location.
We arrived to find our beach view obstructed by construction on the balconies for our rented unit... and drilling and construction going on 6 days a week. Not quite what I expected/paid for. Management did work with us, and moved us. Other than that, it was a great week. This remodeling was not going quickly, so beware if you're renting a unit this summer. I imagine that an owner would have been informed, I felt this should have been disclosed by the renter, as I booked several months in advance of our stay.
We own a unit at Coral Reef and are more than happy with it. I do know that they were going to tear down the building next to Coral Reef but to my knowledge there is no major construction going on at Coral Reef per se. You will love it. It is directly on the beach.
Iam looking for a recent review for the Coral Reef Beach Resort. I understand that there is construction going on. Please comment. We are looking to travel March 11- 18, 2006. Has this been a problem?
I have been going to St. Pete's since l995 when my daughter started college nearby. I always rented a timeshare next door at the Breckenridge Resort and loved it there. Since it was deeded time for 25 years, that option is no longer available. Last year, I rented at the Coral Reef and decided it was time to buy. I am very pleased with the management (very important for an owner), the cleanliness of the units, the location (plenty to do with or without a car)and the helpfulness of the staff. I plan on renting my unit (spring break week) this year and rented last years week through the agency they provide, as I didn't have my closing until after my vacation in St. Pete's.
We just got back from a week there during Easter break. We visited this place a year ago while in the area to check it out for this years stay. We tried to get a trade through RCI and no go. We rented from an owner and was not disappointed in the least! We went with the intentions that if all is well with the stay, we would buy a timeshare week. Suffice it to say we bought a week and are ready to go back next year. Sooner, if possible! Rooms were very clean, and recently updated although a little smaller (the 1BRs) than we are accustomed to.
I sat in on the weekly owners meeting and was very satisfied with the direction this facility is headed in! The people that are regulars there are extremely friendly and that makes a big difference to me! We actually are considering buying a second week here!
Very disappointing, room was not very clean. Bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable. Floor was so dirty you had to keep shoes on your feet or they became black from walking on the floor. Beach was nice.
We've stayed here quite a few times and loved it! The units face the pool, which is wonderful. We enjoyed having Bongo's Beach Club there with plenty of food and tropical drinks when you just want to kick back. They have entertainment as well which is a treat.
We own a timeshare here and enjoy it very much. Each year it seems to get better and better as they do more upgrades.
Cleanliness is very important to me and we find Coral Reef to be very clean.
I truly recommend this resort to anyone who wants to just lie back and relax.......the beach is at your door.
We stayed here with family in July 2002 and July 2003. The pool is outstanding, and the resort is right on the Gulf of Mexico. Both times we took day trips to Orlando.
The condo was clean and has a fill kitchen. Can't wait to return.
Stayed here July 2002.Enjoyed every minute. An excellent resort.
Loved it!!! Exchanged my 2 Bedroom in New Smyrna Beach for a 1 Bedroom. (That is all I could get on the West Coast.) The only disappointment was that the 1 Bedroom was very small -- but then who cares when you are on vacation.
Our family of four visited in June of 1997. Very good location with no pressure to buy or even view. Large pool was nice, good food locations nearby. We were in unit 107- one bedroom. Average to small rooms. Looked as if property was at one-time a motel. Overall- fair trade with great location. They have a 1 in 4 rule but that really would have effected us as we liked this visit but figure that you can do better.
