We were there in November 2001 had a great time loved Puerto Vallarta. The Mayan Palace in the Marina area is in a great family oriented area and only a short and entertaining bus ride to downtown . The rooms are nice, the onsite restaurants are good, the staff super friendly, the pool and grounds are wonderful, the beach is fun ( Nuevo Vallarta has awesome beach but is farther from town) and the water slides and lazy river are fun for everyone. I can't think of anything that would have made our stay here any better.

this has become our winter vacation home. we truly look forward to returning each year. the suites are well appointed, the staff treats you like roalty and puerto vallarta is charming- 80 degrees and sunny every day, with great architecture, fine art, and more fine restuarants than you have time to experience.

As an owner, I just stayed here on an RCI escape week - I couldn't have been unhappier with the resort. My shower door was broken out of the wall, no hot water in the shower, people kept opening my door with passkeys, and leaving just the chain holding it while I was inside, room-service personnel that would NOT leave my room, rude personnel, my beach towel disappeared from my room, Mayan Palace personnel took me to a timeshare prsntn., deserted me and took the $100 USD promised me, nobody at the hotel would do a thing, basically did NOT care. Worst experience in Mexico, every place I stayed in Mazatlan was far superior. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed at the Mayan in marina Vallarta. the property is great. Be prepared to go to Walmart & buy one of those egg-carton foam pads for the bed, because they are hard as slate. AND don't participate in their Timeshare presentation, at the Grand Mayan in Nueva Vallarta. We were told that it was going to be approximately 90 minutes, we were offered 500 pesos credit per person to our bill if we attended, there was 5 of us. The man who was our salesperson, Gill, was very pushy, said very inappropriate jokes to my In-laws, and kept telling us that all the time share's included golf, even though we told him we don't play golf. he was pleasant enough to start, but when it was apparent that we weren't go to buy into the timeshare, he got more and more upset, even insulting. He told us by law that he could keep us there for 7 hours. We were there for almost 6. They did NOT want to let us go.
