Unfortunately we must sell our 2 bedroom townhouse which we have owned for 20 years. We always loved the poolside location and felt like we had our own private pool. We enjoyed many trips to Morritts with family and friends.

Morritt's Grand Resort is the absolute best. Our week is located right on the beach with panoramic view of ocean. The units are beautiful - recently remodeled. The weather is perfect - always breezy and temperature is always around 80 during the winter months.

People who have a Grand Resort week just don't trade for other timeshares. They keep coming back year after year. We are always told "welcome home" by the very friendly staff. (The only reason we are selling is because of health reasons.)

We love the quietness on the East End of the Cayman Islands. We love the ability to eat on the water. There are many restaurants to choose from. You can decide to rent a car or just stay put at the resort which has its own restaurants. The Morritts Grand has some great activities you can choose to participate in. The staff is great and housekeepers are wonderful. There is a supermarket near by and you can make your own meals and sit on your private oceanfront balcony, They have a wonderful "happy hour!" The bartenders are the best on the island !

If you are looking for a lot to keep you entertained than this is not for you. It is all ocean front units..clean, huge two bed two bathroom..very quiet at night for great rest and relaxation. The ocean is not as clear as the pictures show, there are rocks and sea weed etc. so bring your beach shoes..there are area of the water that are very clear, depends on the tide. Overall, just beautiful..beautiful shades of blue..lots of fish by the pier for snorkeling..Rum Point about 30 min is AMAZING...a piece of paradise..where the famous mudslide was created..lots of chairs, hammocks, shaded areas, crystal clear ocean and good food and drinks. I would no doubt return here..Cayman is very clean and very safe!!! Beautiful homes, very nice grocery stores...all closed on Sunday! Do not hesitate to book this resort..you will not be disappointed....

The Grand is just fantastic. It is like being in paradise. We love staying on this side of the island because there are no cruise ship crowds to deal with. There are many restaurants 5-15 minutes away, as well as on site. You can snorkel right off the beach under the pier and see lots of fish. The pier has a bar and karaoke.

The resort has daily activities for all ages that we really enjoyed. There was no pressure to buy a timeshare or attend a presentation. We loved the vanishing edge pool and were lucky enough to stay on the top floor at The Grand. The view is awesome up there. We would definitely recommend this resort and would love to go back and stay more than a week.

libby 31 review - I believe - is not about the Grand but the older wood building which would be at Morritts Tortuga and not about the Seaside or Grand buildings In the Grand there is a dishwasher, a washer and dryer and all the other "goodies". We bought our first week in 1989 and now just purchased our 5th week because we love Morritts. We found the grocery store to have a very nice selection and the prices are the same as in town. We have never had an electric bill as high as you state, so I don't know what happened there. Run Point is not owned by Morritts but part of it is owned by the Hyatt. After reading your comments it sounded like you were in one of the very oldest building around the pool and not ocean front. We were at Morritts in February and March for 5 weeks and before that we were there for 4 weeks in November. We used 2 of our units and rented a third one for Thanksgiving week and had our whole family to be together for Thanksgiving week. The 14 of us had a Thanksgiving that we will smile about as we remember it. Sorry the front desk was a problem for you, I know they were changing clerks.

Morritt's Tortuga Club has a beautiful location! However, if you plan on anything other than using their facilities or those on Rum Point (which I think belong to Morritt's as well) this is not the place for you.

The distance and ever increasing traffic make the drive to the other side (east end) at least 45 min to 1 hour long. Plan your days or you will spend needless time driving.

There is a modest grocery store a 1/4 mile away with reasonable prices but with slim selection.

Check in was ok. The staff seemed friendly for the most part but there are a couple of people with serious attitudes.

Our room wasn't ready until 6 pm. The front desk manager gave us resort credit that we were told could be used towards our bill at check out.

We stayed in the oldest section and the room was well maintained and very clean.

There was plenty of space but limited facilities. There was no dishwasher or washer and drier in the room.

We were warned about the utility charges that the resort tacks on to the bill so we were very conservative, no AC during the day (we kept the screen doors open and it was very comfortable), made sure we turned off lights etc. Our bill for the so called metered use was over $90 for the week! So, we would have liked to know what we used but the check out was a nightmare and we didn't want to spend anymore time than needed to get out.

Remember the people with the attitude? Well one of them checked us out and didn't want to give us the credit the manager gave us. We asked to speak with the manager and there was a very unsatisfactory result that ended in a "I wish I could kill this guest" stare from the staff and dead silence.

Eventually the credit was applied but it was reluctant. What a nightmare that was.

We were not surprised to hear that the management is having difficulty. Also, there are problems with sales. Again not a surprise.

The old units are around the pool and have some view of the ocean. That view and the breeze will be cut off when they put up the next building. It will be a real shame and to us very poor planning.

We were fortunate to have been in a 2 bedroom that had a second floor balcony. That was very nice.

Our house keeper was very nice and came by every day to see if we needed anything. We really didn't but it was nice that she took the garbage out.

The weather was not good the week we were there and everything we scheduled to do was cancelled. This was not the resort's fault of course. However, the trips were running from the other end of the island if we wanted to take the hour drive each way to do the excursions.

Overall it is a nice place. We would never give it 5 stars even for the new buildings. The same people go here year after year and love it. We can understand why but it takes a certain personality and expectation. We doubt we will go back.

We could recommend this place to the right people but not everyone. We met some really nice people that own and stay there. That was probably the best part of the trip.

Just got back! May 3 - 10th. Hated to go back to work! Miss the island. Loved the resort; it was relaxing and not crowded. We went on the sting ray tour...you have to do that! Went to Senor Frogs Friday night, Latin Night, in Georgetown. Had a blast! RENT A CAR! It will save you money. Take friends to help split all the costs. Ours was a NO HUSBAND'S Week! Just friends from work going on vacation! Will definitely go back!

We just returned today (7/22/07) and loved every last minute of our stay there! The rooms were exceptionally clean- and we had cleaning service each day that made our beds, replenished the towels, and washed the floors. We had a 2 bedroom unit- Oceanfront..it was incredible! It was large and spacious- and next to the Grand Pool (the infinity pool)- Lots of activities for young and old. Our son enjoyed the Kids Club while we had some adult time. We plan on returning for sure- and are thinking about purchasing there. It was the best vacation yet!

We just returned from the Grand and had a great time. It has weathered Hurricane Ivan well. The pool is beautiful and they were putting in even more landscaping the day we left. The restaurant- "Ivan's" is opened until they finish the new one downstairs. The dock is not yet built but should be by June at the latest, according to the owners. The spa and workout facilities and on-site dive shop are operational. The beautiful white sandy beach is as wonderful as ever! You can walk right out your door and snorkel seeing beautiful coral and sea-life. There is windsurfing, jet-skiing and paddleboating as well as kayaking available right at the resort so there is plenty to do! We really enjoyed the resort tremendously with the staff being all accommodating and friendly. If you are renting from an owner for the Grand--make SURE they are renting that resort and not Morritt's Tortuga Club. There is a big difference in the units.

We didn’t stay at the Grand, but took a tour of the property on a timeshare sales presentation. We actually stayed next door at the Morritt’s Tortuga Club. Morritt’s Grand is a brand new resort located on the same property as the older Morritt’s Tortuga Club and it is SO much nicer (or perhaps just so much newer) than the Tortuga. The first two three-story ocean front buildings are completed, a third four or five story building is scheduled to built between (and slightly behind) the two existing structures. Most rooms in the newer building will have ocean views, but rooms on the two ends will have “courtyard” views. I don’t expect they will begin construction on the third building until they complete the new mini-mall across the street and sell out units in the first two buildings. The new mini-mall should have a small grocery-convenience store, a pizza hut and perhaps some office space.

Each unit we viewed was decorated in a more contemporary island décor. The kitchen and bath had solid surface countertops which should hold up much nicer than the laminate counters at the Tortuga. The units also boasted ceiling fans – and we are guessing that with a nice ocean breeze, you could get by without running the AC all the time. The one bedroom units had an integrated shower and standard sized, jetted tub. The two- bedroom had an additional bathroom, and the master bath had a separate, extra large Jacuzzi tub. The two-bedroom also had an in- unit washer & dryer. The units were well appointed with upscale kitchen appliances, and stocked with quality dishes, cooking supplies and utensils. The quality you would expect in a Gold Crown.

There are three beach front swimming pools at the Grand – two smaller pools at either end of the property and a very large zero edge pool with Jacuzzi and swim up bar right in the middle. Sitting in this pool, it also seems like the water merges right into the ocean – what a view! In front of the pools, you will find an abundance of beach chairs, palm trees and hammocks. The entire week we were there, the beach seemed fairly deserted. On a mid- week drive over to the other side of the island we passed through the crowded and more popular Seven Mile Beach. If you are looking for lots of people, late night partying and action, you should find a place there. The Morritt’s offers peace and quite, an escape from the crowds and noise, a place to completely relax and be away from it all.

The Morritt’s Grand offers plenty of on-site activities and night time entertainment if you are interested, coordinated through the Tortuga Club next door (be sure to read those reviews). If I had to choose to stay at either the Grand or the Tortuga, I would pick the Morritt’s Grand hands down. Since we got our trade through RCI, we were at the older Tortuga and it was still a wonderful vacation.

Most beautifal waters in the carribean. This site is right on the water and is terrific for on site snorkling. However, the ability to go on daily scuba or snorkling dives is the Best. I did my first resort dive here. The most professional dive trainers. It is a five star resort and offers much entertainment; especially Mud Slide Night in the Bar-"Name that Tune!"
