Floating Weeks:

The purchaser of a floating timeshare week has the flexibility of scheduling their vacation interval with yearly variations in accordance with the resort's guidelines. Typically, resorts will accept requests for specific weeks by the interval owner as soon as the annual maintenance fees are paid. Therefore, the earlier the maintenance fees are paid the better the chance that the owner can pick a specific interval week.

Timeshares at Barony prior to 2010 were purchased based on assigned use periods (Platinum= wks 22-34; Gold= wks13-21 & 35-43; Silver= wks 5-12, 44-48, 51-53; Bronze=wks 1-4, 49-50). The Platinum June, July, August commanded the highest cost. One could make reservation to use the timeshares any time during the wks 22-34 (Floating). The second factor in the cost was location; oceanfront, oceanside or garden view. July 2000, Platinum oceanfront cost $33,500.00.

Wow! Nothing like a lot of extraneous information to confuse a simple issue like floating weeks. FLOATING WEEK: SIMPLY MEANS THAT ONE MAY CHOOSE TO OCCUPY THEIR TIMESHARE WEEK ANY TIME WITHIN A DESIGNATED PERIOD RATHER THAN IT BEING A SPECIFIC FIXED WEEK. These periods (seasons) are designated by metals (colors) with Marriott ranging from Platinum (highest demand) to Bronze (lowest demand) with Gold and Silver in between. Not all resorts utilize all four color seasons. Hilton Head does but Florida resorts may have only Platinum and Gold seasons. Glean what you will from the other responses. I found them to be confusing and unclear and had to chime in despite the age of the last response. LOL Dennisn
