My husband and I are in our 70s and, sadly, find it hard to travel to Kauai now. It’s time to let someone else enjoy the Pono Kai.

We love the location in Kapaa, with its shopping, restaurants and lovely bike and walking path up the coast. The resort is well maintained and good for both couples and families. There are lots of things to do at the resort so you can be active, just settle into a lounge chair and enjoy the ocean breezes or go explore the rest of the island. Checking into the Pono Kai always felt a little like coming home.

Our main reason for purchasing the timeshare back in 1986 was to "force" me to take vacation.

It was always difficult to find time to go on vacation with my very busy / demanding work schedule.

However, my wife and I figured that if we bought a week, it would "force" me to take vacation.

The flexibility of being able to exchange the week for somewhere other than Hawaii also made it all that much more attractive. And, initially, that's what we did. Instead of Hawaii, we exchanged it for other US-based destinations and even some in Europe.

After our second daughter was born, we started going to Kauai every other year. Kauai became our girls' special vacation destination. Each time we'd go, we'd take a photo of them in front of the same waterfall. Years later we look at those photos and realize how fast they grew into young ladies. Kauai was the place where our family made many great summer memories. Pono Kai was always helpful in arranging activities for family fun.

Kauai is a great destination with spectacular beaches, unadulterated nature and a laid-back atmosphere. The perfect vacation spot to get away from it all.
