My husband and I have stayed at Plaza Suites several times. It's close to the convention center, the cruise ship port and the many wonderful restaurants in the Warehouse and Central Business District. It is an easy ten=fifteen minute walk to the French Quarter, close enough but without the 'rowdy crowds'. It is an unusual layout because it is a former firehouse. Most of the two bedroom units have a large window that opens onto a center seating area...very nice to sit and relax after a busy day. The units are not new but nice and clean. The units have plenty of room for several people and had all the amenities we required. The staff is excellent...friendly and helpful.

My wife and I recently stayed here while attending a convention. The location was nearly as close as I've ever been to the Convention Center at a fraction of the cost of hotels. The quaint rooms in this resort are well appointed with comfortable beds and reasonable kitchen. As mentioned in other reviews, even though the resort was fully occupied, it was quiet with only tell tale noise from the other guests. However, it is not comparable to the Gold Crown property that it used to be, as the fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom are dated from the original opening in ~1996. Although a few things in our room needed repair, everything essential was in working order and clean. The daily maid service is a nice feature missing from most resorts and there was no charge to use the washer and dryers located in a common room downstairs. Nor were we pressured to take part in a time share presentation. There was an addition cleaning fee of $35 charged as this was an extra vacation from RCI. Located just a block from Harrah's, the restaurants in the French Quarter are a pleasant stroll, not any further than anywhere else we've stayed. The fridge and microwave mean you can enjoy the left overs or even buy some groceries at the corner liquour store if you want save. The friendly staff and great location more than make up for any deficiencies in amenities and I will definitely stay here again in future years.

What this resort lacks in amenities it more than makes up for in its location and incredible staff. We were about a 10 minute walk from the French Quarter, which worked out really well, because who would want to actually STAY in the quarter? (Staying in the quarter reminds me of the old adage, "Nice place to visit, but wouldn't want to live there.") Additionally, the resort is in close proximity to lots of good restaurants. You definitely don't need a car unless you're planning to tour outside New Orleans, because the streetcar is a few blocks away, you can walk to just about everywhere you would want to go, and there is a $12 per day charge to park your car. If you like jazz, or if you think you might like jazz, or even if there is only a remote possibility you would enjoy jazz, you MUST go to Preservation Hall. It's in the Quarter, and it is a cavernous, rustic, old hall where you sit on wooden benches or stand in the back and listen to jazz played as it was played at the turn of the century. They don't amplify the sound or sell any food and beverages. It's just the music, and it's incredible being in that room hearing that caliber of music. Definitely worth going to New Orleans just to go to Preservation Hall!

Stayed Oct 03. Very convenient location if you don't mind a few blocks walk. Nicely appointed, friendly staff. No outside windows in most units. Windows to an enclosed interior courtyard with no natural daylight. A little claustrophobic but very quiet and comfortable.

What a great location. We were a block from the river, next to Harrah's, and a couple blocks from the French Quarter. Our unit had a cozy loft bedroom. Not a large kitchen, but with all the wonderful food in New Orleans, who cares?

Much nicer than the Avenue Plaza and most others rated here. Smallish units, but beautifully decorated (and who does anything but SLEEP in their rooms in New Orleans). Within crawling distance of Harrah's Casino-- great way to end the evening! It's a bit of a walk to the French Quarter, but the plus side is that it means you will actually get some sleep at night, as the Quarter rocks all night long). No extra "resort" amenities like a pool or golf course...but since space is at a premium in N.O. you won't find that sort of thing in most of them anyway. All in all a great place to stay.
