Lake Placid Club Lodges, located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, offers year-round possibilities for vacationers of all ages. The site of the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Games, Lake Placid is one of the most popular winter-sports centers in the East, where Whiteface Mountain boasts some of the most challenging skiing. The ski lifts are 10 miles from the resort. Enjoy cross-country skiing (free with Lake Placid Club Lodges Amenity card), ice-skating, and tobogganing, as well as sleigh rides in the area.

Own a piece of Lake Placid for a fraction of the prices and right on the Lake. AWESOME

Brand new remodeled kitchen with stainless steel appliances. Upstairs loft bedroom with a second deck, downstairs includes a jacuzzi tub and walk in sauna. Full stone wood burning fireplace in livingroom. This is an amazing waterfront END unit and the only one with a full deck on the first floor. There are ONLY 5 WATERFRONT units that rarely come up for sale. Wonderful opportunity to own this fabulous unit at a beautiful time of year (no black flies).

You have to drive to Lake Placid and it's another 35 minutes after exiting the Interstate. Lake Placid is on an upswing and in my view Lake Placid Club Lodges is underrated. If you're retired you'll like it. To own a summer week is "to die for". In July, it's not unusual to see three generation families vacationing at LP as the unit size is humongous and the maintenance charges are well below average. There is newly reconstructed sidewalk around Mirror Lake that is hugely popular and a Brew Pub within easy walking distance from most buildings. Want a newspaper? You can find one on Main Street ... at many timeshares you have to just about "sell your soul" to find a daily newspaper.

Sorry, place does not have a pool nor much more to do on site. Great town makes up for the lack in accommodations. Got me for a $20 energy charge. Tried to get me for a $30+ midweek cleaning fee. Cannot see the hi rate for simple rooms in a not so great complex ??? I think the people that gave it rave reviews were influenced by the town & not the lodge....notice I did not call it a "resort"

I can't think of anything bad about LPCL. The units are fabulous (actually the same design as we'd seen several years ago at Massanutten in VA) -- spacious, well-designed and clean. Two bedrooms upstairs and the huge bath on the ground floor is puzzling but okay. Our unit was halfway up (or down) a hill with thirteen steps on the uphill run.

The location was perfect. We looked out over the golf course with the mountains in the background. We could walk down to the corner and pick up the free shuttle into the heart of Lake Placid village.

Front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. We arrived the day before Hurricane Irene did and the staff kept us up to date on what attractions were open and what roads were still closed.

Plenty of things to do in the area with Olympic venues and Whiteface Mountain dominating. Get a Passport and do them all. We daytripped to Potsdam, where I went to college, then up to the Eisenhower Locks at the St. Lawrence Seaway development near Massena. Another day trip to Ausable Chasm but weren't able to do the raft ride because of the volume of water. We skipped the ferry across Lake Champlain to Vermont because Vermont had been clobbered by Irene.

There are lots of restaurants for such a small place but some short drives out of town can be worth it (the Hungry Trout in Wilmington comes to mind). We didn't have a bad meal but didn't have a really memorable one either. I would expect the choices to dwindle in the winter, maybe not with the skiers in town.

All in all, LPCL is a wonderful place to just kick back and relax, enjoying the quiet or to use a base for sightseeing. We'll go back.
