Sands is perfectly located between Kaanapali with it's great beaches, golfing, shopping, and dining and Kapalua with it's unique beaches and world class golf. Visiting Lahaina is a Maui must for shopping, dining, and it's numerous historical sites. The beauty of Sands is that you have access to those great areas but can still be on the ocean with phenomenal views in a quieter atmosphere!

Lovely Maui location... Stay in Kahana or take a short drive to Kaanapali and other west Maui beaches! LARGE unit with room for the whole family!

Quiet condo with beach access and all the amenities! Clean units and friendly staff! We love it there!

Sands of Kahana is the perfect place to enjoy everything that Maui has to offer. A quiet beach, yet close to restaurants, shopping and Lahaina. Sitting out on the lanai watching the sunset is amazing. The room has everything you need for a group or a family. Certainly better than a hotel (and way less expensive)!

This was a great place for my family. We go to Maui for the beach, and we think the beach at this resort is wonderful! It doesn't show as good on photos because it is not white sand, but it is a wonderful soft "tan" sand. And it is right there. You walk past the pool and onto the beach. You can't get closer.

This beach has something for everyone: Right as you exit the resort onto the beach the waves are calm enough for very young children.

Twenty-thirty feet to the right or left, they start getting zippier enough to be exciting for older kids and adults.

If you follow the beach to the left there is an outcropping of rocks...with sea turtles and snorkeling. We counted 7 sea turtles there one day. And twice during our two weeks a seal was there.

We enjoy watching the locals surf further down.

Follow the beach to the right for a nice walk and to see the black sand. If this sounds like your kind of thing, you will love the Sands of Kahana.

Looking at my maui guidebooks I would have to say this is the most underappreciated beach on the island...which is why it is wonderfully private!

The units are huge too. Ours is a 3 bedroom and it says it fits 8. That doesn't count the fact that it has a large L shaped couch that could fit two more people (adult size) or be used pulled out to a bed.

In my family we always try to use condos instead of hotels because everyone sleeps so much better if they have enough space! We slept great at the Sands.

We did have to leave windows and doors open for air (we had two balconies) but we enjoy hearing the ocean/wind/rain. And you really don't need AC in December & January.

I have always requested upper level, and always gotten it. So your view will be beautiful.

The unit is a bit quirky in the way it is set up. Like there is a window in the shower, and there are so many closets you could not possibly fill them.

But we were able to comfortably fit 11 of us in our condo when my extended family (staying at a different condo) came for the day and to join us for dinner & games. We were even able to bring in the table & chairs off the balcony so that everyone could sit at a table and eat together; and could still walk past all of that to the living room without it being in the way. We tried to do the same at their condo. We made the best of it for two hours and then left.

Lastly the resort was generous with towels/linens/ dishsoap/laundry detergent. We stayed at the Marriott last time and it was great, but you felt paranoid about someone taking your towel, because you only get one...and you have to keep track of it with a card system or you pay for it. I was so happy when we got to the Sands and opened the huge closets in the hall to see it stocked with towels!!

Great snorkeling is really close, although you have to get in the car and drive to it. 10 minutes to Black Rock. Other snorkeling choices too nearby.

Maui is such a fun place to go, and The Sands has been a great choice for our family!

Sand of Kahana has been our families favorite Maui resort for years. We love the location, central to so many activities, shopping and dining. We love that you can swim in the ocean or hope in the pool.

We were at the Sands in April 2022 and our stay there was fantastic! Best vacation any of us have ever had! There were 4 of us and there was plenty of room. The accommodations were great, so great we're booking again for next February!

Overall fabulous vacation resort! Great location. Beautiful Hawaiian grounds. Everything wonderfully maintained. Has beach, pools, putting green, tennis court, convenient restaurant restaurant on site and by pool. Large rooms, large full kitchen, balcony, and laundry in the unit.

Beautifully kept grounds with an on-site restaurant. Conveniently located and within walking distance to restaurants and other amenities. 5 min drive to Whaler's Village and 10 mins. to Lahaina.

The Sands of Kahana resort is located on the northwest shore of Maui just short a short drive to vibrant town of Lahaina and the wonderful snorkeling beaches of Ka’anapali. They have an excellent program for youngsters and those interested in crafts.

We have been coming to the Sands of Kahana for years. The recently remodeled units are beautiful. This resort offers large units that feel like home. The ocean views never ending. Watch the whales from your lanai. Just relax or enjoy the amenities - tennis, putting green, main pool, kids pool, jacuzzi, BBQ's and onsite restaurant and cocktail bar. Awesome location, between Kaanapali and Kapalua, with lovely Napili nearby.

SOK is a great resort. as an owner we come every 2 years and enjoy ourselves we are not far from Lahaina. You won't be sorry if you stayed here. The staff is great.

Great beachfront resort! Very friendly staff and clean!

Great resort close to the ocean. Perfect for older couples or families. Not a ton of walking just to get to the beach. Check out pictures of the resort. Tennis courts and beach volleyball are perfect for families. Nice and reasonably priced restaurant on the property and McDonalds is one block away. Large units originally built as condos,away from all the big crowds at Kaanapali beach. If you are looking for a nice comfortable, less crowded resort, this is the place for you. This is not a Westin or Marriott but perfect for real families that want to be close to the ocean and don't want to walk for 10 minutes to get to the beach or pools!

My husband and I have purchased 4 weeks annual use in an orchid unit and love the Sands and Maui. So if you are looking for an objective review, this isn' it. The units are huge, there's even a washing machine and dryer so you can leave some of the wardrobe at home, the entire family can stay , two bedrooms have king size master suite, two double beds in the the second unit, there are two full baths, and a large kitchen, saves on the food budget, these were condominiums, the place is very clean, the furnishings are being upgraded, the staff is spot on in courtesy and service, the four buildings are ocean front, you are near Lahaina, Kapalua, Napili Bay, and McDonalds, there is a new children's pool, and multiple outside gas grills for cooking. From ocean view and ocean front units you will see whales in season, beautiful sunsets, make dinner with your family, fall asleep listening to the ocean surf, visit Lahaina, snorkel at Honoloa Marine sanctuary.

Been an owner for 15 years you can say what you want, rate this place but I have been an owner this long and have always had a wonderful stay, there is no perfect place where we always give high marks but there staff is always trying to help in a fast and appropriate way. Love to stay here and also own at the Marriott, yes it is newer but long way to beaches and not as quiet,

Spacious 3 BR unit floor plan (building 4, 3rd floor, garden view) accommodated family travel group nicely. Wonderful views with walls of windows in common spaces and bedrooms. Large, well-equipped kitchen and several great outside grilling areas on grounds. Parking abundant and free. Easy walk to sand beach and easy driving distance to numerous beaches and snorkeling opportunities. Conveniently located near supermarket, restaurants, gas station, and snorkeling/scuba rentals. Units not air-conditioned but tradewinds kept unit very comfortable. Wireless internet not included; subscription to Maui Skywave provided wireless economically. Somewhat noisy (due to open windows), especially the daily garbage truck and the unit location near trash chute. Lanai furniture could be updated and more chairs needed to seat the maximum number of occupants. Quick response from maintenance when window blinds malfunctioned.
